ABOUT ME

I'm a 28 year old female. Former Detroit social worker and former U.S. Navy sailor. I've driven across the country 3 times and sailed around the world twice. Right now I'm living in Norfolk but plan to move to New Orleans at the end of August to start grad school at Tulane.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've only surfed once and hosted one surfer. My friend from Detroit got me into couchsurfing-- he hosted surfers frequently. I haven't been too involved since I was in the Navy...

reading, don't really watch TV... I love gardening and nature, politics, good quality beer, cooking and grilling, being outside, WARM weather, water sports- water skiing,wake boarding and knee boarding, beaches, Thai, Indian, Ethiopian and Mexican food, people watching, napping and traveling of course.

Slumdog Millionaire, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind is a fav., Memoirs of a Geisha, Cruel Intentions, Sweet November, The Ladies Man, A Time to Kill, What Dreams May Come, The Butterfly Effect, The Exorcism of Emily Rose, Crazy Beautiful, Girl Interrupted, Beaches, Monster, Vanilla Sky, Fight Club, A Lot Like Love, so many.... the Pursuit of Happyness, My Girl, the Land Before Time, All Dogs Go to Heaven, Pocahontas, etc. Roger & Me-- anything by Michael Moore. He's the shit :)

I don't ever watch T.V. I did love Wife Swap though. That show was soooo cool! Is it still on? I like the Colbert Report too.

Lately I've read-"the Alchemist" which is AMAZING. "SMASHED; Story of a Drunken Girlhood" by Koren Zailckas. Any girl who drinks, especially binge drinks needs to get this. It's an amazing wake up call. I liked "A Million Little Pieces" (James Frey) a lot- who cares if it wasn't true? It was awesome anyways. The last book I read was "The Red Tent" (Anita Diamant)and it was really good- I recommend it for any girl. It's about Indian women. "Secret Life of Bees" by Sue Monk was good. "Black Girl / White Girl" by Joyce Carol Oates. It was really interesting- I loved it. "Water For Elephants" by Sara Gruen was another good one. "My Sister's Keeper" and "Me Talk Pretty One Day"..... "Eat, Pray, Love" "Stupid White Men" I love to read! Especially to my nephew, he's so cute :)

I've lived in Detroit and sailed around the world twice and driven across the country three times. Thailand was pretty amazing, also I loved Turkey and recently visiting an old friend in Puerto Rico.

Well my life took a drastic 180 from growing up in a very small, one stoplight, farm town to moving after college to become a social worker in Detroit then joining the Navy. I'm very openminded in that aspect and have had a lot of life experiences in different sectors of our government from education, social services to the military....
