About Me

Hello!
My name's Carly. I love cats, slam poetry, coffee, and of course travelling! I work at a bagel store. I've already traveled quite a bit- most recently to New York City on a trip I planned. I was an au pair for a few months in France last summer. I have so much wanderlust and it stresses me out that there's so many parts of the world I haven't seen yet!

Other things to note about me:
Breakfast food is my absolute favorite food
I love playing the ukulele
I want to be fluent in lots of languages
I'm a vegetarian
I love meeting new people!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Not going to lie, I am a bit skeptical of this as it seems too good to be true. But I am always willing to try new things! I want to travel the world as cheaply as possible, meeting people and making new friends along the way.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love folk music! I'm pretty open to just about everything, though. I like mellow acoustic music, but also electronic, dance-y music.

I love the Harry Potter books, Sherlock Holmes, and Hunger Games! The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster is my favorite book. It's a kids' book, but it's so cute and clever! I'm currently reading Life of Pi and The Invisible Man. I have also recently been really interested in old (1950s and 60s) National Geographic magazines!

I'm not too into movies and don't watch very many! But I really like Disney movies, Pixar movies, and movies that are based off of books. I actually usually like movie adaptations!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I know it's not really "amazing," but planning my recent trip to New York was the first trip I've planned and executed completely on my own. I managed to get me and a friend there in one piece, finding a flight, hotel, and activities all under $800! (we were there for 5 days) Getting there on my own and managing to do everything I wanted gave me a lot of confidence to travel more. It's starting to feel less and less like things are holding me back.
