I collect shiny objects, people and stories about same.
I now own an Er-Hu (see amazing things seen list) and know how to play it, but I play Irish fiddle tunes on it.

I have a bad habit of collecting hobbies, especially if they have an engineering angle or quirkiness.
I play violin for my own entertainment, and enjoy listening to violin music be it classical, folk, traditional, Irish, or Chinese.

Mandarin language Reggae music CD release party in an old temple in Beijing.
Found a group of old men having a jam session, on the beach in Sanya, Hainan, China.They were playing Er-Hu (traditional 2 stringed "stick fiddle"), they gave me a 4 hours of lessons.
Getting a personal tour of Bristol England from another engineering geek.
Helping bring a 27 foot sailboat into a tight slip under 100% wind power.
Helping test row a new viking river boat in Maryland, USA.
