About Me
CURRENT MISSION
A grand Pacific NW adventure!
ABOUT ME
I'm a librarian living and working in the DC metropolitan area. I'm outgoing, friendly, independent, adventurous and like to think I'm easy to get along with. I keep really busy with various activities--I'm always enrolled in some sort of class or another (or several at a time) to learn and experience new things. I've recently gone car-free and I'm using the proceeds of the sale of my car to travel!
I'm still trying to figure out if I'm simply the type of person who finds humor and absurdity in everday occurrences, or if I'm the type of person to whom humorous and absurd things frequently happen. Either way, it makes for a fun life and some great stories!
PHILOSOPHY
"Life is either a daring adventure or nothing. To keep our faces toward change and behave like free spirits in the presence of fate is strength undefeatable".
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm new to Couch Surfing. I wish I wasn't--this is great. I have only just heard about it, now that I'm looking for a place to stay. I'd love to use this for my upcoming travels, and certainly want to host in Alexandria (which I consider to be the gem of the DC area).
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I'm new here!
Interests
I have many and varied interests. I'll just list those I participate in on a regular basis:
Ballroom dance, karate, bike riding, traveling, ceramics, hanging out at the pub (seriously, it's a valid "activity" 'round these parts).
- wildlife
- dancing
- pub crawls
- traveling
- pottery
- cycling
- camping
- surfing
Music, Movies, and Books
Way too many to list. The movie that immediately pops to mind as a recent favorite is Stranger Than Fiction, and my favorite work of contemporary fiction is Prague: a Novel. I'm a huge fan of public radio and need my weekly This American Life fix.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've been lucky enough to have many amazing experiences. Forced to choose one, though, I'd say it was our spring break camping trip/safari while on JYA in Botswana. We were just kind of out there, no fences around the campgrounds or anything. It was so beautiful and fun and we saw so much wildlife but it was also vaguely frightening (you could see the hyenas' eyes glowing just outside the light given by our campfire, and feel them brush up against the sides of the tent at night). Memories for a lifetime!
