Hi! I’m Cathrine. I've always been a girly geek, and I quite like sci-fi, fantasy, coffee, chocolate and smilies :)

In the past couple of years I have become very active in my IT community. I organize events in Oslo and I also volunteer and speak at events all over the world. It's a great way to combine my geeky hobby with doing something useful, meeting new people and seeing new places.

I used to be extremely shy, but now I try to push myself out of my comfort zone as much as possible and live by "that thing scares me, so I need to try it". The more I travel, the more I want to see the world. The more I experience, the bigger my dreams become. I have met amazing people who have shared their stories, and I hope to share more laughs and experiences with new friends.

I want to travel more, meet new people and experience local culture - and give back to others who are visiting my part of the world.

Interests

I have to start with the one thing I spend most time on, right? IT, programming and development. More specifically, Microsoft SQL Server. It's what I work with and it's the topic for the conferences I organize, volunteer and speak at. It's mostly a community thing, I really enjoying giving back and paying it forward :)

I love hiking, sitting by the water, listening to nature and just enjoying the moment.

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to everything from pop to rock to soundtracks to electronica to country. According to my last Spotify year in review, I prefer pop rock, post-grunge, stomp pop, indietronica and soundtracks. Translated to artists: Imagine Dragons, Lifehouse, American Authors, OneRepublic, Daughtry, Queen, Train, 3 Doors Down, Taylor Swift, Philter and a whole bunch of soundtracks.

I binge-watch TV series like Battlestar Galactica, Game of Thrones, Supernatural, House of Cards and How I Met Your Mother. Movies? Yes, please, I'll watch anything. Favorites include Fight Club, Inception, Star Trek, the Nolan Batman trilogy, the Lord of the Rings, anything by Pixar, and most superhero movies. I'm easily entertained and down to about 92485792438 series and movies left on my to-see list :)

Book favorites include the Harry Potter series, A Song of Ice and Fire, The Legend of the Ice People, His Dark Materials and the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
