About Me

Me and my husband have a passion for travelling, meeting new people, and experiencing new cultures. We are both fun, respectful, and friendly people who are passionate about life. We don't have children but have 4 amazing nieces and the world's greatest dog and cat that keep us laughing. Our love of the outdoors led us to building a beautiful camp (cottage) on a serene lake in Northwestern Ontario. We would love to open our off-grid water-access camp to anyone looking to experience the wilderness Canada has to offer, but only in the summer. We left our corporate jobs of 15+ years, a few years ago so we could follow our travel dreams now.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We love meeting people and are hoping to do some more couchsurfing to genuinely experience new cultures with a friendly local resident. We have hosted several young men who came to Thunder Bay as part of a baseball league for a summer each time helping them to achieve their dreams and experience a family environment during their stay. We have also taken in many pets over the years when someone needed a temporary home including stranded airline pets, friends pets, and charities like Kitty Kare. Our lakefront cabin is gorgeous and an amazing way to see some of Northwestern Ontario's nature like fishing, kayaking, hiking, photography or hunting. You wake up to peaceful lake life and fall asleep to the haunting loon calls. Its an experience you won't forget.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Spent a summer in the Italian Alps

Travelled to fly-in First Nation communities with an Ojibwe Physician and 2 Cree elders to help foster self-management of health and empowerment for the remote indigenous people in Canada. Amazing people!

Last winter, I volunteered with Give and Surf, teaching English to resident Panamanians. We even had some police officers amongst the students! Loved to be a part of that.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am a master trainer in a Chronic Disease Self-Management program. I was also a master trainer in the diabetes, arthritis, and chronic pain formats.
