ABOUT ME

Hi! I'm a gal in her mid-thirties, and a recent transplant to Portland - I know, too many people are moving here, I'm sorry! After randomly moving to a few different states, I settled in California, where I lived for 11 years (feels like a lifetime!). I am a creative individual and LOVE to entertain.

My friend/roommate when I lived in Los Angeles introduced me to this site and we had a blast hosting couch surfers! Unfortunately my living situation here doesn't allow for hosting, but send a message! I'm happy to meet up for drinks, hikes, sharing a meal, exploring the city and the like.

The things I enjoy are so vast and random, it's probably better to just ask! Here are a few of my interests to start: Studying Esoteric and ancient philosophies/religions, music, film, hiking and backpacking, museums, meeting new people and much much more.

PHILOSOPHY

I live my life for me. That doesn't mean I do not care about or think about anyone else...it just means I base my decisions on what will enrich my life. What's kind of funny is that I am drawn to a life of service to others, so I spend a lot of time volunteering and advocating. It's my dream to work with MSF in the future.

My roommate and I have hosted a few couchsurfers. Unfortunately now I have moved and do not have a couch to offer.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I really enjoyed hosting folks in our Downtown LA loft. I met so many wonderful people from all walks of life. My roommate and surfers staying with us even threw a surprise birthday party once!

I'm a trained Doula and a Student Midwife, so a lot of my time and conversations can be dominated by those subjects. Good thing I love it! When I am not exploring the outdoors or sleeping in a tent, I am home where I have begun culturing a lot of my own food. I have also recently learned how to sew and am working on a few projects.

While on a 200 mile section hike of the Pacific Crest Trail, I had the gift of being awestruck on a daily basis. I am looking forward to a thru hike in the near future.

Three years ago, I was very very ill and wound up bedridden, unable to work (or even walk down the driveway). Even with insurance, treatment was very expensive, leaving me quite literally penniless. Complete strangers helped me by putting a roof over my head, transportation and donations to my medical fund. It was so beautiful to be reminded that folks are inherently good and will help others, even complete strangers.

As someone who works with pregnant and laboring people, I am privileged to witness life coming into the world on a regular basis. It never ceases to amaze me, leave me awestruck and bring happy tears to my eyes.
