About Me
CURRENT MISSION
I one day hope to be even as happy as my dog.
ABOUT ME
We live in Seattle, just 2 blocks from the old hippie neighborhood of Fremont. Rodman started as a hippie peace activist as he was training to be a scientist, then became a glassblower mid-life. His studio is in the basement. I write & my office is in the attic. We're both in the local art scene, & Rodman is hugely active in the local community; lots of locals want Fremont to stay individual. We have no chain stores here. It's great. We go to a lot of old time music events all year, visit the east coast a couple times a year for fam, & head to someplace int'l once a year. What else...We have a 9 year old boy, an aussie mix dog...lots of dinners & parties here...we're kind of social. Our travel style could be summed up as - grab your backpack & trust your luck & instincts.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
So far, just signing up. We travel so much & host so many people here anyway, it seems like a natural to sign up here. I look forward to hosting folks from around, telling them about Seattle. You can feel at a loss as to where to start in an unknown town, so some direction from a local can be nice.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
None so far, as of this writing - feb 2010 - we just found out about the site. But we host several performers each year for the Moisture Fest & have people stay here all the time, often at short notice, so CS is just another name for the life we already live.
Interests
Reading, glassblowing, science, dissecting the current political problems, dogs, writing, vintage ads & sociology from the 1900s on as evidenced in marketing, teaching cool things to the boy child...

Music, Movies, and Books
I like Clyde Edgerton, books about the American South. Rodman is dyslexic & listens to books on tape, with Charles Dickens being a heavy fave. Deeply involved in old time music scene, also listen to some trance, also Loudon Wainwright, John Prine, like that.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
For my own self, I find the most pleasure in looking closely at ants, spiders, animals. Watching nature. We saw a completely huge spider in Vietnam....loved the cheese in France...
Teach, Learn, Share
I would be willing to demo glassblowing for a visitor, if our shop is up while they are here. Also I can show dog training.
