About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Travel until I run out of and then one day publish all of my crazy stories

ABOUT ME

For some reason this part seems weird to me, it seems like I'm writing an obituary. Well, I joined this site because I have been travelling for six months and have heard so many great stories and met so many great people that were participating in couch surfing, that I felt like I was missing out. I'm pretty go go go, but I do have an off switch, and that usually results in me reading and writing, something I do daily. I like coming into town and making friends with locals, seeing things that others wouldn't see;
"Want to see the Derby Dolls?"
-Sure?!

My three best jobs were working in bars and nightclubs, a comic book shop, and a music/book/movie store. I had the most fun in those, but unfortunately I didn't go to University for any of those occupations, so, now I'm trying to turn my love of adventure and my story telling abilities, into a career.

Mainly, I just want to meet cool people that I can have a beer with and either offer them a safe place to sleep, or them return the favor.

PHILOSOPHY

I want to live in a world where people don't point fingers. I want to see everything that I can see, push my mind and body to the limits, and hopefully share these experiences with as many cool people and endearing friends as possible. Also, down a shot of Jameson in every country that has it and never leave my skateboard or bulldog behind again.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm new. I'm just getting sorted in this community, but I figured I'd dive in and see how I can get involved.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

ALl of my experiences have been with friends, or friends of friends, never with strangers, so I am both nervous but anxious to meet new people and see new parts of the world.

Interests

Tossing out my Lonely Planet and going with the Lewis and Clark feeling of wandering streets and mapping them out in my mind. Longboarding. Surfing. Skydiving. Live Music-well, live anything really, comedy, musicals, broadway, anything live is generally entertaining. I enjoy telling stories and listening to other peoples stories.

Music, Movies, and Books

I worked in a music/movie/book store for three years, two of my biggest pet peeves are people who think they know everything, and people who say they like everything. That being said, I legit love music, movies, and books. As far as music is concerned, everything from Alkaline Trio, to the Clash, the Johnny Cash, to Q-Tip, to Hot Chip, to the Strokes, to, well, I have a pretty extensive music collection, and naming a few here wouldnt do many any justice, I particularly love LIVE SHOWS. Movies is pretty similar, in the States I probably see a movie a week, even if by myself, just to get the creative juices flowing. As far as books go, I started my trip 6 months ago with 52 books, and am down to 22. I have two months to finish my goal of reading a book for the whole year (but within eight months). Favorites are Salinger, Hunter Thompson, Elmore Leonard, Dennis Johnson, and anything historically fact based, not propaganda.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Recently I did a shot of cobras blood with the heart beating in the shot glass. I've done some reckless stuff in my life, but the taste of blood and the M&M texture of the heart hitting the back of my throat will never be topped.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am an open book. I have travelled, but not nearly enough, and am more than open to learning more and sharing as much as I can.
