Hello, fellow CSer... My name is Charles.
I began my journey with Couchsurfing almost 15 years ago... and since then, I have had 100+ incredible guests stay with me and shared in countless wonderful experiences. After a long hiatus, I very recently decided that I would entertain the idea of hosting again. I would never have taken a break from hosting, but, you see, certain changes in my living arrangements at the time, didn’t allow for the opportunity. Anyways, I have moved to Raleigh, NC and I’m ready to graciously accept guests and I’ve decided to give it a go!
I owe a tremendous amount of my wisdom and empathy for others to the years, in which I hosted and I look forward to once again sharing in my sacred space, my current city and all the cultural perspectives possible.
For both my work and as a central passion in my life, I am a guide and teacher. I teach regular yoga classes and workshops at my studio, and others in the surrounding area. I have been teaching and transforming students for well over a decade and in my career I have lead countless trainings, international and domestic retreats, lectures, etc. I also work with massage, therapeutic energy techniques, teach occultism and philosophy, and was specifically trained in psychology.
Aside from spiritualism or the health/fitness work I do, I also enjoy restoring antiques, reupholstering both modern and antique furniture, and also create mix media or digital artwork.
I live with a tenant, Nico, on a gorgeous golf course in the East Raleigh area, I enjoy cycling and sitting by a fire blazing, while I sip a scotch. I have a male cat named Chaplin, who is my Dark Prince and Nico has a cat named Saki! Sorry if you’re allergic to cats!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Well, for many years, I have greatly enjoyed traveling. When I was younger, Couchsurfing was always a cheap and exciting opportunity to make such journeys possible... and it still is!
Aside from traveling myself, and taking all these incredible experiences with me from couch to couch... I also feel compelled, in exchange for this great gift, to provide sanctuary upon my own couch - enabling others to utilize my space as they may allow me to enjoy theirs. This whole Couchsurfing experiment is just one immense positive and supportive circle of people who have a love for others, learning about culture, and traveling the world. I can’t think of a better community to be a part of!

I absolutely love to challenge myself physically... rock-climbing, cycling, hiking, jogging, whatever is clever. I enjoy a spiritual practice of differing sorts like yoga, meditation, martial arts, or even painting! I obviously love to travel and hope to see the world. I read voraciously and pride myself on having an extremely wide view of the world... I owe much of that to the same passions that brought me to Couchsurfing.
I often feel as though complete strangers have been acquaintances of mine all along. This occurred with 90% of the guests I hosted.
- martial arts
- rock climbing
Music, Movies, and Books
Ask me... as I could never concisely reduce the plethora of movies, music, and books, which have influenced my life and idea of my self, to a short, bulleted list.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
11 days of meditation...
Teach, Learn, Share
I have seen the significant similarities between the ancient eastern mysteries, deeply symbolic in their meaning, and the countless scientific systems, in all their modern relevance. I believe, with many others, that there is in fact a perennial philosophy that exists... an experiential reality, which permeates both the interpretation of ancient wisdoms and modern understandings alike.
I have always made it my goal to live within a somewhat disciplined mindfulness, where I might study such ideals and such systems... to absorb the knowledge and the techniques used by such ancients, as well as the like-minded souls I meet everyday and everywhere. I do this within my livelihood, within my life and as a couch surfer, who is blessed to meet and share with interesting and beautifully different human beings from around the planet!
