Just keep wandering ...
I'm an outdoorsy girl who is too curious to stay at home - I would like to peek into as many landscapes and cultures around the world as possible. I can't seem to stay in one place too long, I'm always uprooting my life and taking myself off to live, work and travel in strange countries.
For the last few years I have been living between NZ, Europe, South America and Oman. I am a vegetation ecologist and have worked on conservation projects in Ecuador and Oman. My hobbies are hiking and rock-climbing, mixed with a bit of dancing or windsurfing or whatever is going on around where I live.
I love the outdoors and spend a huge part of my life out in the wild, but I also love good food and good wine, and cosy places with cups of hot chocolate.
IMPORTANT to know for hosting/surfing with me, I'm tricky with food - I am gluten intolerant AND vegetarian. So no meat, and no wheat, barley, or rye. But I love food and I love cooking so I usually find my way around this with no problem. Very happy to cook a meal or two for hosts!
"Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away."
"Only a hill; earth set a little higher
Above the face of earth; a larger view
Of little fields and roads; a little nigher
To clouds and silence: what is that to you?
Only a hill; but all of life to me,
Up there, between the sunset and the sea.
Life's sorrows rise no higher than our hedges;
The distant view has heaven about its edges."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Bit of hosting, bit of surfing, bit of chilling out with CSers in strange places.
I've had some amazing times surfing, hosting and travelling with other couchsurfers! I think one of my favourite things about couchsurfing is the diversity of people you meet. Through CS I have met all sorts of people - artists, chefs, students, round-the-world cyclists, cross-Atlantic sailors, ecovillagers, film-makers, teachers, social and environmental activists, software programmers, tour guides, photographers, dive instructors, musicians and (of course) a whole lot of professional wanderers.
Me, I am a mad tree-hugging ecologist, if you want to meet one of those ...
Take me out into nature and I'll be happy. I'm into rock-climbing and hiking, and also keen on windsurfing and skiing, and I used to do a bit of archery. If I'm in town I'm always keen for coffee or a glass of wine.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Traversing the Cuillen Ridge on the Isle of Skye, Scotland.
Hiking and scrambling among the canyons and cliffs of Oman.
Horse-trekking in the mountains of western Mongolia.
Nearly getting lost in the Amazon ...
Teach, Learn, Share
I can share a lot of thoughts and facts about ecology and nature conservation, sustainability, and fitting in better with the way our world works.
