About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I want to see and do as much as i can while I'm still (relatively) young.

ABOUT ME

I'm a 23-year-old jack of all trades. Kind of. I can do some things. Sort of.

I spend a lot of time trying to make the kind of music that I'd want to listen to, which can often be frustrating, but can also be very satisfying.
I like to read all sorts of books, watch Jeopardy, go driving around in the car listening to albums, with no particular destination in mind. I like to write and am really happy when i can find the motivation to actually do it. I love traveling, and I'm thinking about heading to Europe for the first time in the near future.

I feel like this is starting to sound like the "Interests" box, so, I'll just leave it at this.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm just getting started and want to a bit of couch surfing. I hope that in the not-too-distant future i can lend a couch to fellow surfers.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm a complete rookie when it comes to this. The closest experience i've had to crashing at a relative stranger's home is the two weeks i spent living with a host family in Costa Rica, which was great.

Interests

I love music (making and listening to); literature of all different genres, writing and reading it; GOOD television & movies; traveling; sports; art; languages... I can pretty much find something that interests me in any and everything.

Music, Movies, and Books

MUSIC:
I listen to pretty much everything from avant-garde experimental music to radio pop. Some of my favorite bands/singers are: Animal Collective, The-Dream, Vampire Weekend, The Velvet Underground, Dirty Projectors, Outkast, Girls, Kanye West, Drake, Arcade Fire, Radiohead, The Smiths, Lil Wayne, David Bowie, Daft Punk, LCD Soundsystem, Maxwell, Justin Timberlake... the list goes on and on.

MOVIES:
I enjoy the films of Woody Allen, Michel Gondry, Stanley Kubrick, the Coen Brothers, Wes Anderson, P.T. Anderson, Luis Bunuel, Francis Ford Coppola, Martin Scorsese, David Lynch & Alfred Hitchcock, among others.

Some of my favorites are: The Royal Tennenbaums, Annie Hall, North by Northwest, The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, The Science of Sleep, Belle du Jour, Mullholland Drive, The Shining, The Godfather I & II, Rushmore, The Departed, O Brother, Where Art Thou?

BOOKS:
My favorite writers include Kerouac, Doestoyevsky, Chabon, Salinger, Faulkner, Borges, Kafka. I love On the Road, Crime & Punishment, Tropic of Cancer, The Stranger, Catcher in the Rye, The Amazing Adventures of Kavalier & Clay, Kafka & Borges' short stories, plus i dig on a lot of history & non-fiction stuff, usually general US history books & presidential biographies; everything Malcolm Gladwell has written, interesting science/biology/evolution stuff, books on Atheism by Dawkins & Hitchens... i like to read.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've seen the silhouette of a volcano in Central America lit up at midnight only by the light of the small bits of lava shooting up from it's mouth.

Teach, Learn, Share

Hmm, i don't know. I can play the guitar? I could teach that pretty easily. And i'm pretty well-versed in using recording software/recording music, but i always want to learn more new things about it.

I'm pretty good with Spanish/languages in general; I think i could probably teach someone conversational Spanish pretty well.

Something that I'd like to learn soon is Portuguese.
