Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I just spent the last two years launching Ethiopia's first certified organic fruit and vegetable company. I came back to the US for a "dream job" in California but the dream wasn't real. I quit two weeks ago and just got a new job in Queens, teaching permaculture in public schools! I'm very excited about this opportunity but I need to build up some savings before I can afford a place of my own to stay. I haven't lived in New York for many years, so I'm looking to make new friends and build connections. Thank you for welcoming me into your home :)
Singing, yoga, cooking, gardening and writing. I love exchanging ideas with people from different cultures and backgrounds.
Music, Movies, and Books
I'm a huge fan of podcasts like Radiolab or the Moth. I also love 30 Rock and Parks and Rec.
I love any books by Malcolm Gladwell.
My favorite movies include "Contact" with Jodie Foster and "Lion" with Dev Patel.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I launched Ethiopia's first certified organic fruit and vegetable company. I also launched a program teaching preliterate immigrant teens how to read, write and grow food by designing and installing organic gardens. My work as an educator has been featured in the New York Times, Al Jazeera, and MacArthur Foundation documentaries.
