Overview
About Me
Hi! :)
My name is Claire Caswell and I am currently pursuing my undergraduate degree in Event Management at Iowa State University. I am an avid outdoor enthusiast, yoga instructor at the university, and love to experience new things. I am outgoing and happy with a positive outlook even in the worst situations. I am extremely clean and organized. Just as happy in a large group environment as I am at peace on my own.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
This summer, I am planning to travel around the west, volunteering for as many outdoor / recreation oriented festivals and events as possible in order to get a well-rounded idea of what it is like to develop a large scale event.
Through my travels, I hope to get the down-n-dirty hands on experience with festivals - the tasks maybe no one really wants to do (even myself) so that I understand ALL parts of the event, and have a good understanding of event work when talking to potential future employers, while gaining real world experience.

Music, Movies, and Books
I have such a strange music type. I have a mix of everything on my playlists. My go to music is usually upbeat, yet laid-back. Sometimes a mix of rap + happy music that makes you want to dance.
I don't watch a whole bunch of TV or movies, but I love the documentary Art of Flight and the classic movie School of Rock.
I am very interested in uplifting books and thought provoking reads. I love books that inspire, encourage creativity, and allow you to think and question.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Over Spring Break this past year, I lead a group of 17 students with a few other leaders into Labyrinth Canyon, Utah on the Green River. We canoed and kayaked 75 miles of the canyon in 5 days, camping along the river. This was an incredible experience, taking students, some of who had never canoed before on a week long trip into the backcountry. Sinking our legs into knee deep mud at every take-out and gazing in awe at the star speckled night sky from our sleeping bags.
Teach, Learn, Share
