ABOUT ME

Hi,
My name is Clara and I was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia. I'm currently living in Cuenca, Ecuador with my partner. We both teach at an English language school here and absolutely love our new home. I have always been interested in Latin American politics - I majored in Latin American History and Politics in college and studied abroad in Mexico and Argentina. After graduating, I backpacked solo throughout Europe, which was one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences of my life. Upon my return, I attended graduated school and received my masters in education.

I'm an avid traveler and eager to see more of the world. As I mentioned, I traveled extensively in Latin American and Europe, though I've yet to go to Africa or Asia. Every year, I go to a small town in Jamaica with my family, and this has become a defining experience of my life.

I believe that interacting with locals is a critical component of travel, and that's why I'm interested in staying with (or at the home of) a local who can give me glimpse of the culture that I wouldn't be able to see if staying at a hotel and doing the normal touristy things.

I'm a great guest and super easy to get along with. I'm very clean and love cooking, so I can help out around the house. I love to hang out with my hosts, but I'm just as willing to be independent and let you go about your everyday life. As a student and teacher of history, I'm very curious about the culture and history of the places I'm traveling, so I can't wait to meet you and learn more about your country!

PS - Did I mention I speak Spanish?!
