About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Stay Alive.

ABOUT ME

I am really just a fun loving person who is looking to get the most out of life. I have a serious side that comes out when business needs to be taken care of, but for the most part I try to enjoy the moments I have. I am a fairly outgoing person and enjoy being around people and meeting new people and seeing new places. That being said, I have recently started to appreciate a little solitude every now and again. I am finding that sometimes I surround myself with so many distractions I can't even think. I could probably go on for a while here but I can't give away all the best things about me.

PHILOSOPHY

Yes. Always say yes. Okay, there are a few exceptions, but I try to take every opportunity I can. It's led to some great experiences, and a few terrible ones, but the good far outweighs the bad. I try to live without regret, it can be hard to shut that part of your mind of at times, but it's the only way to go. Oh, and never take myself too seriously.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Sadly, so far, not much. I joined CS about two years ago, but I really haven't visited the site since then. I have been a vagabond of sorts the past 18 months, living in various places for no more than a few months. However, I never really needed a couch, and never really had a couch to offer up during that time. I will be traveling for the next 6 weeks and then will be settled in Portland, Oregon for the next year at least so I hope to participate much more in the future.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I don't really have much of the completely random sort. Although I am fairly well traveled I have been fortunate enough to know people or have connections to people who put me up. I suppose to a lesser degree it's CouchSurfing.

Interests

Travel, it started about 10 years ago and I just can't get enough. Still way to many places left on my list but I'll get there someday. Outdoor Life (Camping, Fishing, Backpacking, Trail Running, Snowboarding, etc.) Although I hate commercialized parks and campgrounds. More of a Backcountry, leave-no-trace kinda guy. Sports, although I don't play sports as often as I used to I am a bit of a nut for Baseball, Basketball, American Football, Soccer(La Liga, Champions League), Olympic Sports...name it I probably have some interest. History, most of the books I read are non-fiction, although I don't read nearly as many as I would like. Architecture & Art; as I am spending lots of $$$ on a Master of Architecture I sure hope it's an interest! My travels have led me to start getting into Photography, but I have a lot to learn.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: Just read 1776 by David McCullough, great perspective on the American Revolution. Now, The Grapes of Wrath which I haven't read in probably 10 years. Next, Seven Years in Tibet...I have no idea what my favorite book is.

Music: I am all over the place. Really.

Movies: I try to make a list of favorites all the time but there are a lot of great movies out there. Not a big Documentary guy.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of the most amazing things I have done occurred a few months ago. I was in Vancouver, British Columbia (Canada) for school. We had a few days off so two friends and I hoped in my car, took a ferry to Vancouver Island and went kayaking and camping in the Broken Group Islands. This is an uninhabited group of tiny islands which several hundred years ago were home to over 10,000 indigenous people. We spent one night on an island where we were the only humans, I fairly amazing feeling. Unfortunately a pending bad storm forced us back early.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am drawing a blank...I'll get back to this one.
