About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Currently living South of London and teaching.

ABOUT ME

Grew up in Port Moody, which is about 30 minute drive from down town Vancouver. After I graduated from University I decided to take some time off to travel. My first stop was a working holiday in Australia, travelled around Polynesia, New Zealand and SE Asia after.

I am independent; travel by myself, but have visits from my friends and sister from time to time. I find this is the best way to meet new people as well as getting to do and see everything that interests me. I am also terrible at planning things ahead of time, so this is probably why no one is available when I suggest a travel destination.

PHILOSOPHY

I was raised a Jodo-Shinshu Buddhist, and it has pretty much just stuck. I think it is a beautiful religion that is non-judgemental. I have never felt pressured to do or say anything I felt uncomfortable with.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I haven't used Couchsurfing except with friends in New Zealand. I want to get back into it to meet locals and have unique experiences.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Just had my first couch surfing experience with my German friends Natalia and Mel in Whakatane in NZ. It was amazing and I look forward to more!

Interests

Well as it is not practical to list everything I am interested in, I will start with a few of my favourites:
-travel
-literature, as an Enlgish lit major this is pretty obvious
-I love rollerblading, eventhough I know this is lame it is still amazing on a summer afternoon
-addicted to coffee, finding the perfect coffee is a must do in any new location

Music, Movies, and Books

I love movies from the 80's. When I was about 12 my mom gave my sisters and I a VHS box set with Breakfast Club and 16 Candles; we have all been obsessed ever since. Can't forget, Pretty in Pink, Ferris Bueller's Day off, the Goonies, all of the original Karate Kids, and the Outsiders.

Music is tricky. I mainly listen to alternative rock and Canadian Music. Favourites are Black Keys, Sam Roberts, the Arkells, Jets Overhead.

Books, I absolutely love anything and everything by Douglas Coupland. I have a soft spot for JK Rowling and the infamous Harry Potter, this is not just from the nostalgia of my childhood...I legitimately love it now as an adult. Haruki Murakami is my favourite Japanese Author.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One of the most amazing things I have seen was the sunset in Santorini. Though the sunset in Rarotonga is easily comparable.

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Cambodia, Cook Islands, Fiji, Germany, Greece, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, Mexico, New Zealand, Philippines, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand, United States, Viet Nam

Countries I’ve Lived In
