About Me

I'm Courtney! I'm cheerful, sociable and down for anything music, art, nature, or food related. I was born and raised in New York but I'm a huge fan of bluegrass and country. I feel most comfortable singing karaoke or riding my bike. I'm looking forward to meeting new people and leaving my comfort zone!

I think respecting and listening to both older people and children are extremely important. I like to build people up. I pay a lot of genuine compliments to others. I try to take some time every day to make another person smile. Being kind and nurturing is good for the soul.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think I would make a good guest because I am genuinely excited about what each host has to offer and will try anything - whether it be food or drink or activity - once.

I haven't used CouchSurfing as of yet! Be kind to this CS first timer, please.

Music, Movies, and Books

IMHO, nobody did it like Etta James, Otis Redding, and Sam Cooke. Give me something that can be described as "soulful/gospel inspired/old school rhythm and blues" and I'm in heaven. Heaven!

Other favorites include Ray LaMontagne, The Steeldrivers, Crooked Still, Zac Brown Band, Mumford & Sons, The Avett Brothers, Josh Turner, Susan Tedeschi, Bonnie Raitt, Sara Bareilles, The Civil Wars, M. Ward, The Decemberists, Young The Giant, and The Kooks

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I'm a teacher, so I have the rare opportunity of seeing something amazing every day - kids learning bit by bit about the world!

I got to sing at the Vatican once several years ago. I fainted, so it wasn't as cool as it would have been were I conscious, I suppose.
