About Me

Try to participate in Couchsurfing again - a lot has changed!

I am an Australian physiotherapist with a sarcastic sense of humour that doesn't suffer the foolish, racist or lazy. Unless that racism extends to Americans, in which case it's easy to understand.

I'm happy in my own skin because it's mine. And I'm wise enough to admit I'm not perfect. But I am the best me there is.

Cover the earth before it covers you.
Work to live, not live to work.
You don't need eyes to see - you need vision.
A rolling stone gathers no moss.
Be yourself - everyone else is taken.
Animals are more evolved than people - they cuddle up to you when they like you, bite you when they don't - and they don't use guns

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I host anyone who requests me with reasonable timeframe (longer than an hour - preferably a fortnight), I am active in many groups and I've surfed in many different countries.

I have hosted quite a few travellers in my time, through the CS site and HC and through my own life picking up stray humans I meet on the street from time to time.
I like couchsurfing and have done a fair bit - but not always (or often) through the site...I've tended to make friends in my life travelling who usually tell me to come visit them when I come to their country. I've found CS Europe/UK, quite frankly, to suck, because the hosts are young men who just want to get laid (and often declined to host), so I rarely host single male Europeans now. I like travelling and staying/spending time with locals - it has cost me a couple of relationships doing so. C'est la vie.

My profession is a lifelong commitment to learning - about people as well as about illness and how to get well, and can take my skills with me to make money....but I am not my job, I am interested in a lot of other things.
Travel (why I'm here), Dance (capoeira, salsa, meringue, bachata, tango, headbanging), music (from house to hiphop and everything in between, I DJ when I feel like it), food (it is for life), movies - most genres. Ask me about more.
Family is the centre of a beautiful life - and I think that we all have many brothers and sisters in this world that we may never meet. I'm interested in finding them

Music, Movies, and Books

Ask me - I think about 2000 CDs and 500 records and counting. Mostly house/breaks/hiphop but also soul/funk/blues/reggae/dancehall/dub/breakstep/folk/rock/latin(sonsalsambatucadaforromerenguecumbiacapoeira the list goes on & on.
I love podcasts and am always interested in hearing new mixes of everything from any tempo.
I think Dubstep music makes baby Jesus cry and should be outlawed and the person/s responsible for creating the genre hung, drawn and quartered, then eighthed for good measure.

Mostly Hollywood, European/UK or Australian movies. I love documentaries, I'm a big fan of Michael Moore & Werner Herzog, and documentaries like The Cove, Blackfish, Microcosmos, Winged Migration, March of the Penguins, Bruce Parry's Tribe, Born into Brothels, and anything by Louis Theroux are on my memorable list.

Books - I read fiction if I have time. Usually reading has to do with anatomy/physiology/research - or I read about history. Little time for fiction as real life is strange enough. Gleick is interesting.

I am the world's biggest Simpsons fan (try me) and love South Park, Family Guy, Seinfeld, Curb your Enthusiasm, Archer, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, Breaking Bad, Californication, Dexter....Aussie shows like Underbelly, Go back to where you came from, Ronnie Johns, Chaser, old D-Generation crew.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing things are yet to come I hope!
I've seen 6 of the new 7 wonders of the world - I hope to see the last someday soon...
I walked the Camino Frances through Santiago de Compostela all the way to Fisterra for the first time in 2009 and it was one of the best experiences of my life....
I have loved and been loved in return.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach people a lot of things - write to me and we can learn from each other. So that I know you've actually read my profile, let me know in your couchrequest if you want to learn how to do a handstand (or if you know how to do one already).

I want to meet other travellers so I can be inspired to go travelling again myself...NOT just to save you money on your holiday while you use my utilities. If you are surfing for this reason, you should just go back home and get a job.
