About Me

CURRENT MISSION

My mission is to live up to my potential in all things, intellectually, physically, emotionaly, spiritually, and socially.

ABOUT ME

Born and raised in a suburb of St. Paul, MN, educated at Minnesota (ba, political science, with minors in history, philosophy and economics), George Washington University (ma, political science and international affairs)Minnesota again (mba, management science/operations research)and University of Chicago; brief stint in the pentagon when I was 25, then hired by Standard Oil in Chicago (Amaco), then got interested in management consulting, which became my career. Recently divorced from a 28 year marriage which produced 5 children, the last one of which is 18 and lives with me. Though I've seen a good part of this country, Canada and Europe, I still love to explore new environments and cultures. I look for the good in people, believe in a benevolant Almighty, of whom we are a part, and think public service is something all of us need to commit to. We're all connected, "No man is an island unto himself." I'm and avid reader, and right now am facinated with the lives of certain Russian poets, just before the revolution. I enjoy skiing--both kinds--kayaking, backpacking, bicycling, and cooking.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm a fan of old movies, you know, dramas with messages or starring real actors of the old star system: Spencer Tracy and Katharine Hepburn are my favorites from that era; today I think the best actress on screen is Cate Blanchett, followed closely by Renee Zellweger and the best actor is Russell Crowe. As for books, I'm reading several biographies of Russian Poets, along with John Updike's The Widows of Eastwick, Gore Vidal's Julian, and David Foster Wallace's essay collection, Consider the Lobster.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've had the humbling opportunity to shape the lives of the five young people who are my children, from their birth to their adulthood.

Teach, Learn, Share

Always learning and sharing my knowledge.
