About Me

The Couchsurfing update killed all the HTML in my profile :(

On 5 April 2014, I finished my goal of Running to all 86 metro stops in DC metro area via interesting routes, starting from my house/street. The 86 metro stations were about 798 total miles. I started on 2 July so .. LOOKING FOR A NEW MISSION NOW!!

My, what I hope, is my (future) dream trip to Prague!:

Pros and cons of living in Bogota:

Pro: Tons of cheap food
con: some of that cheap food will kill your insides almost literally
pro: tons of world class museums
pro: taxis are cheap
con: public transit is an absolute disaster and nightmare
...especially during rush hour, crowds almost act like animals, collectively
con: tons of paper work. Getting a bank card took THREE DAYS..just for a damn savings account
pro: Rent is cheap compared with the states or western europe and you can still get a cheap place
con: actually finding a landlord to rent to foreign folks with a reasonable contract
I would like to do:

Eastern European tour - Estonia, Lativia, Lithuania, Belarus, Ukraine, Romania, Bulgaria

A Central American tour - Belize, Guatemala, , El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama

A Southern European tour - Hungary, Croatia, Serbia, Bosnia, Kosovo, Abania, Greece

I want to see India, Peru, Egypt, Kenya, Ghana, Papua New Guniea

Interesting things to see in DC that are off the typical tourist beaten path (ask me about them, directions, etc. Maybe I can even take you there if I have time):

1. Kenilworth aquatic gardens
2. National arboretum and Capitol Columns
3. Kingman Island and Heritage island
4. Basilica of the National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception
5. Frederick Douglass National Historic Site
6. Union Market
7. Theodore roosevelt island and statue
8. Franciscan Monastery
9. Anacostia community Musuem and nearby Anacostia Art House Gallery and garden
10. Congressinal Cemetary (SE) and Soilders Home Cemetary (NE)
11. Islamic Center of Washington
12. American University Musuem

overlooked things on or near the mall:
13. Old post office tower
14. Einstein statue
15. Art Musuem of the Americas
16. Building musuem (structure more than for the exhibits)
17. Capital Grotto
18. Post office musuem

and around DC
19. Spanish steps
20. Philips collection (worth the price)/friday night art walk
21. Fish Market near Waterfront
22. Laogai Musuem
23. German American Heritage musuem
24. St. Elizabeths West Campus (structure more than actual tour)

My running ("project") has also brought me to tons of what would otherwise be unseen streets and neighborhoods in DC and metro area (metro area includes small parts of Maryland and Virginia) - feel free to ask me about them.
While I have seen every single free musuem in the city (most of them multiple times) and some of the paid ones there are still a few paid ones I have yet to see. Let me know if you find groupon/livingsocial deals on the following: newseum as I would like to see this one a great deal!

There are also nice quiet places within typically busy neighborhoods that I can recommend in Dupont, Georgetown and Chinatown if you need a break from the action. and great bars with great beer selection in silver spring or dupont and overall nice bars (though not always huge beer selections) in U street, adams morgan, H street and Convention center.

PLEASE feel free to ask me anything in private, or ask for my g-talk or skype if you would like!!

I am an honest, straight forward person. Please be aware of that when contacting me, otherwise, think about it...!

"less is more" - (aside from "CouchSurfing Experience" and "Couch information" boxes).

In other words, ask more in person ;)

Why I'm on Couchsurfing

#1. Hosted two CSing parties.

#2. 54 times for a total of 130 days.

#3. 42 times for a total of 117 days.

#4. On 25 August 2012, an interesting milestone was reached: references! Around this same exact time, I also hit 200 total days of combined surfing and hosting!

Not everything is labeled correctly in the official CSing Reference summary, so here is a more official list that I made myself. (Example: some people list themselves as host when they surferd or as surfer when they hosted... Or, list themselves as host and/or surfer when they just travelled OR don't choose any of the three options (host, surf, travel). Don't ask me why, maybe some confusion or whatever.

The numbers are also skewed because sometimes a surfer or host never leaves a reference and is thus, never accounted for in the reference breakdown, again, hence the need for a more official list where even those who never left a reference are accounted for as well. *Whew*, hope you got all that!:

One Amazing Thing I've Done

Most recent: Ran to all 86 metros in the Metro DC area via interesting routes, starting from my place of residence/street, from 2 July - April 5, totaling nearly 800 miles (18.5 being the longest, to Franconia Springfield). In that span of time I did "non metro" runs too, but this was my primary focus and one I am so happy to be done with. It was memorable and fun.

Otherwise, Icebreaker upon meeting.
