About Me

I created this account a while ago and at the time I had forgotten about it. Fast forward some years later and after stopping myself from making excuses to go anywhere, I've rediscovered it. At the moment I can't get verified for reasons I don't really want to go into, if that's a deal breaker, it's Ok.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to meet new people, I would like to visit new places, and it will be very humbling to get to learn what the world can offer.
By learning some humility the hard way, I've realised the little I've really lived and the even smaller amount I've learned. Looking back in time I've regretted so many things I didn't do for which I've always made one excuse after the next. I don't want to regret myself any further for things I never got to do. It was my own fault after all.
All I want now is to break the shell I've been living in and experience some vulnerability by being exposed to the world and hopefully soon I'll be helping others in their journeys.

Interests

I like to read and to bake. I like to think I'm a good baker but on the other hand, I'm an awful cook.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: I love folk songs, lately I've been into Teresa Teng and Pan Anbang. I also like country music for which Shania Twain and Willie Nelson stand out. On the more current side I like Sam Smith. But I would listen to any catchy, happy-go-lucky song, I'm not picky.

Movies: Maurice (1987) I think Hugh Grant had never looked so beautiful and pained in a character, I love him.
Brokeback Mountain (2005) I can't describe in words the serenity I feel when watching a slow-paced film like this.
Rail Truck (2010) Have not gotten around watching it, but wish to. I can tell I like it just from the trailer.
Bread Of Happiness (2012) The visuals are gorgeous. It is the kind of movie to watch when someone needs to calm down and dream on.

Books: Haven't read much lately, but I could mention Marie Kondo and her The Life-Changing Magic Of Tidying Up, really good if someone's life needs more space and perspective.
Bad Science by Ben Goldacre, had the book for years before deciding to read it in order to get rid of it. So insightful, educative and entertaining that I've decided to keep it.
And some of my guilty pleasures are Robert Greene, Mason Currey, Richard Dawkins and Dale Carnegie.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I can't think of any and it must be because I've done none. I'm not proud of it and hope I can change the answer soon.

Teach, Learn, Share

I've recently realised that there's little wisdom I can offer to others, but the little things I know I would like to share them with others. The only thing I can think of is teaching some Spanish and talking about my home country.
I'm willing to learn anything, that's the reason I'm starting to put myself out in the world.
Sharing is caring, I haven't had an exciting life, so there's little to tell, but life sometimes gets so lonely that I've come to really appreciate family and friends. Sharing company would be lovely, if life's getting monotonous, maybe a new face can give some new perspective.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I could share some of my lame jokes and then no one would laugh but just look at each other while I offer another bad joke and everyone says: No, please!
