About Me

I love to be outside in the forest and near the ocean. I spend much of my time camping and hiking, generally communing with nature. Talking philosophy, deeper meanings and synchronicity take much of my time, as well as reading and laughing. I don't drink or party like a lot of my friends but I still have fun.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To get a better look at the cultures and places where I'm travelling and meet local people, not just other tourists.

Interests

Hiking, reading, contemplation, visual art, going to shows, music, studying plants and people.

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to 70's prog rock (Yes, The Moody Blues, Uriah Heep, King Crimson), 70's-90's punk and metal (The Cramps, The Damned, 45 Grave, Darkthrone, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Running Wild), pagan influenced folk music (Agalloch, Nest, Tenhi, Barn Owl), Townes Van Zandt, some classical, and a lot of world music. My favorite authors include Steinbeck, Dostoevsky, Vonnegut, Alan Watts, Krishnamurti, Carl Jung, Frank Herbert, and many others. I don't really watch television but movies like The Dark Crystal, The Neverending Story, Braveheart, The Fountain, The Seventh Seal, all Akira Kurusawa films, The Good The Bad and The Ugly, and documentaries on animals and nature.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hitch hiked through Mexico to a Mayan temple in the Yucatan and climbed the pyramid to mediate, overlooking an expansive jungle on a beautiful day.
