ABOUT ME

I grew up in Green Bay but was always convinced the stork had gotten hiccups and accidentally dropped me in the wrong state because I do not like to be cold. According to my mother, I announced at the tender age of seven that when I grew up, I was moving to Florida. And I did. And I'm living happily ever after with no air conditioning. South Florida is hot and humid and weird, and I wouldn't dream of being anywhere else.

PHILOSOPHY

I seem to be an unusually curious person with a strong desire to go everywhere and do everything. Well, ok, I really don't have any desire to eat bugs or golf. But otherwise, I'm pretty game.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far, my only experience with this site was to suggest it to a good friend. Ironically, I've yet to dip my toe in the water, while my friend has done more surfing than Kelly Slater. I did attend a party of the local couch surfing group, so that's a start.

Intereses

I'm a major gym rat, but I don't have the body that usually goes with gym ratdom, because I also love to bake. So there are many days where I will take back-to-back spinning, zumba and yoga classes and then come home and whip up a peanut butter pie...or something (I have the annoying quirk of never wanting to make the same thing twice). Fortunately, I'm becoming more accomplished in the kitchen, which means there are fewer outright disasters that I have to eat by myself. I'm the quiet sidekick to several friends who have very passionate interests and can usually be counted on to ride my bike in the dark with gators, dress as a mermaid, attend a concert in a language I don't speak or watch nine consecutive hours of movies at a film festival when called upon.

I'm a festival nut - love them all: music festivals, film festivals, food festivals, book festivals, art festivals. One of the highlights of my life was going to Edinburgh during its festival season when all of the above - plus bagpipes - converge.

Held and fed a baby sloth, saw a hummingbird nest, rode a camel, rode in a hot air balloon in a mass ascension with hundreds of other balloons, assisted an ailing pilot whale (and was rewarded with a faceful of whale phlegm), experienced the sandy maelstrom beneath the flight path at the former Sunset Beach bar in St. Maarten as the 747s landed.
