To remember that I'm not a salmon.
I'm traveling again! My tent and I will be making our way through Southern Europe in June, before heading up to Scandinavia (for the first time!) in July and August. We hope to meet you on our travels!
On a whim, I recently moved to Paris to write a novel (because I'm a massive cliché). I live in the loveliest flat in the heart of the Latin Quarter, just around the corner from the bar where I bartend. It is just a studio, so I can't host people often or for more than a night or two, but my sofa bed is free from time to time. However, I love meeting people, so if you ever need a Parisian tour guide, I can try my best not to get us lost.
For the last two summers I've set off backpacking by myself without much of a plan, once round the US and once following the route of a Buddhist pilgrimage around Sri Lanka (I'm not actually buddhist - I just thought it would be an interesting thing to do). I love writing, tea, the countryside, ending the day exhausted from things I've enjoyed and, more than anything, adventuring.
To never stop revising my philosophy.
I like stories. Listening to them, writing them, and living them. Possibly my favourite moments are the ones where you suddenly think "What the hell am I doing?" as everything descends into total chaos around you and it is absolutely, uncontrollably hilarious. (It's not just me who experiences those regularly, right?...)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I got into the beaten up VW of a man I found on craigslist and drove 2,171 miles with him across the US in 5 days. That was pretty cool.
But I also arrived in Paris on the megabus at 9am one rainy Friday with one suitcase, 175 euros in cash, shoddy language skills, the number of a hostel, the hope of an interview, and absolutely nothing else.
