About Me

CURRENT MISSION

My objective is to meet the most amazing folks throughout the world!

ABOUT ME

I have always been adventurous, whether it's through meeting new people, or through experiences in places I have yet to experience. I find travelling highly intriguing. My travelling ethos was influence early in my life after I read Beat writers like Jack Kerouac, and this has continued to inform my new pursuits.

When I am not daydreaming about where I wish to go next, I can be found with a guitar in my hand. Music is pretty much the basis of everything for me, and is my most loved activity, whether through listening, creating, or viewing a live show. I play bass guitar, electric and acoustic guitar, and I can bang the drums properly when there's a kit around.

PHILOSOPHY

You are your own world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I believe the more I can give and teach the more I can learn in return.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I don't have any formal Couchsurfing experience at this point, other than floors and couches on various tours I have experienced in the past. I am excited to edit this category in the future after I meet some fantastic people.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favourite movie is the Breakfast Club, with honourable mentions to Repo Man and They Live.

My musical tastes are very diverse, as I like pretty much most genres from the 20th century. Punk rock inspires my day to day ethics very strongly. I love post punk, goth, coldwave and a lot of other stuff from 1976-88. Some of my favourite artists include Devo, Neil Young and Crazy Horse, Chameleons U.K., Motorhead, Black Sabbath, Zounds, among others. I am consistently seeking new bands to put on mixtapes for my friends (and strangers!!)

My latest book that I am reading is entitled, "Waging Heavy Peace" by none other than Neil Young himself.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I would say one of the most fortunate instances I have ever had came in the form of two of my favourite artists ever playing concerts in Vancouver. On November 11, 2012 I was entirely lucky to attend Neil Young and Crazy Horse, where I managed to sneak two of my close friends in with tickets that I thought were expired! To bask in the glow of that band was amazing, let alone with three very close pals!

Two Sundays later, on a whim I went to see Paul McCartney live after I decided with two friends visiting town that we would venture down to the stadium to see if there were any scalped tickets available. Hearing "Blackbird" performed live was absolutely life defining!

Teach, Learn, Share

One of my most useful skills that I can teach is my knowledge of music. Although I have limited formal musical training, I am a purveyor of knowledge of musical collaboration, with particular respect to rhythm. I've been playing bass for about twelve years now and I feel that this has underscored my rhythmic love.

Another useful skill I have is in the kitchen. After I chose to follow the vegetarian discipline ten years ago I was introduced to cuisines of many different cultures. I am skilled at cooking food, although I wish it could improve further. I love to ask questions in the kitchen to those making me food, and I like to equally share my knowledge to everybody else. Food is the most fun!
