ABOUT ME

I'm Danae, I'm 24 years old and I have recently completed my Bachelor's Degree at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens on the field of Psychology. My greatest love, however, I'd say is the Cinema, I'm an incurable lover of what I believe to be as perfect an art form as it can get. I also kiiind of draw and paint a little and make collages. I'm also interested in photography but mainly as a viewer.
Currently I am writing articles of film lists for a cinema site called Taste of Cinema.
I am also volunteering in a non-governmental organization called EA, as a member of the debriefing team in the plays and performances of the organization's section called "Tunnel of Oppression", which is a project trying to raise awareness concerning various subjects of oppression, violence towards minorities, social and racial racism, sexism etc through the theater.
I have started a personal project too recently, making a movie that is. Now, I don't have any budget or proper equipment lol and no experience whatsoever. I am filming with anything I can get, anything that strikes me as relative or interesting. This is all new to me, I've decided it's time for me to make the step to cross the line between film viewer and/or "critic" and maker. So far I am fascinated by this procedure. My plans for the future are not very clear, but I am considering applying for a Master's perhaps in the spectrum of Film and Media studies.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I haven't been using my CouchSurfing account since I created it, I am just getting back to it now so I haven't had any CouchSurfing experiences yet. I would like to get in touch with young people from other countries and cultures, hosting and visit their countries too!

Interests

Cinema, moviemaking, videoart, theatre, reading, painting, drawing, collage making, photography, meeting new people, learning about other cultures would be pretty much the things that I am most interested in. I like chilling and talking but also dancing and partying, depends on the mood really!

Music: folk, post-rock, trip-hop, ambient, avant-garde/experimental, alternative rock, electronic, pop rock, punk, classical music, jazz

Mainly books on philosophy, psychology and psychoanalysis, sociology, politics, poetry and classical literature.

As far as the cinema is concerned, the spectrum is wide enough· from from great classical films and filmmakers like Dreyer, Tarkovsky, Angelopoulos, Kubrick, Herzog, Bergman, Kurosawa, Ozu, Park Chan-wook to more cult and arthouse cinema like Lynch, Terayama, Borowczyk, Korine, Larry Clark, Sion Sono, Lanthimos, Parajanov, Miike, Tsangari, Zulawski, Jarmusch, Solondz and Jodorowsky are definitely among my favorites! I appreciate particularly independent, underground cinema and fresh and original filmmaking and filmmakers!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can definitely share my knowledge and experiences concerning the Greek culture and language (I don't really cook Greek foods unfortunately, I'm not exactly what you would call a good cooker!) and endless talks on films! Or pretty much anything that I would have any idea about.
