ABOUT ME

I've spent the last 3 years or so enjoying the great city of Portland, Oregon. Normally you'd find me earning a buck baking bread in the middle of the night and making music or studying on the side (though I'm not in school I still read a lot).
Now for a spell of traveling. I learned to sail last year and will be working passages on sailing boats, first the west coast, then England, then who knows where?
Ambitions range between dull and fantastic. I know I'll make it back to school eventually, but for now am content to sail around the world meeting interesting people. I do my best to live simply and be kind. Though I'm naturally calm and on the introverted side, I still look for adventure.

PHILOSOPHY

Though I am keenly interested in traditional philosophy, creativity and investing in others are what I'm most sure of.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm looking forward to surfing while abroad, and hosting once I again have a couch to offer. I'm very willing to help with chores, cook a meal, (not always fancy but I've cooked a lot), or play you music.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

New to the site, but excited to get going. I've both given and slept on many couches, especially when playing in bands, and people's generosity always amazes me.

Interests

I am an obsessive musician; playing piano, guitar, drums, hiking, snowboarding, the outdoors, sailing ships large and small, movies and reading great books.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Black and White horror/scifi, anything by Hitchcock, William Castle, Michel Gondry, David Fincher, Wes Anderson, Amelie, Castaway, Master and Commander etc.
Music: ecclectic- a little bit of everything from The Chariot to Fionn Regan
Books: Crime and Punishment, The Brothers Karamazov, Steppenwolfe, Till We Have Faces, The Man who was Thursday, The Bell Jar, Dracula, Wuthering Heights, Tao te Ching, many others.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Sailing and living on the Lady Washington was pretty surreal and very incredible. (You'd recognize it from Pirates of the Caribbean).

Teach, Learn, Share

I can tell you how to make good bread or coffee, play guitar or piano, or expound on my love for music. Like most people, I have far more to learn than to teach.
