About Me

I am 26 years old; born an Air Force kid, and then my family settled in upstate NY. After my parents got divorced, I dove into the arts and music, and it became my only focus, as well as playing soccer year round for nearly ten years, and excelling in martial arts. I was classically trained in opera and contemporary vocal styles, and was a clarinet player for 13 years.

I have always had terrible wanderlust, and after a few emotionally rocky and abusive relationships back home, decided it was best for me to be on my own and find what is truly good for me...just me.

I am a fiercely loyal person. A wanderer, vocalist, photographer, sculptor, entertainer, agnostic, humanist, lover, and dreamer. Just trying to find where my place is in this world.

I love animals and insects and plants; nature of all kinds. I feel most at home in the forest or near a body of water. I enjoy all kinds of food, and it is easier to ask me what I don't like than what I do like. I love trying new things, and keeping my scenery fresh and engaging.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am new to this, and a traveling with two friends around the country right now. We have all had major changes to our "regular" lives recently, and have decided to get a fresh start by seeing what's out there. Traveling together has helped us immensely; covering each other's backs when things get tough.

We have all found that working the Renaissance Faire circuit is a great way to keep traveling and have work at the next destination. It's a wonderful and creative atmosphere/community to be a part of, and the plan is to continue that path.

Most faires are between 1 and 9 weeks long, but not all of them allow camping. Some places become very cold, but for the most part they are seasonal with the nice weather. We would be looking to stay with people for extended amounts of time; but not exceeding 2 weeks at each residence.

Interests

Music, photography, traveling, reading, health food, camping, body art/tattoos & modifications, renaissance music and fashion, political failures, sarcasm, bad horror movies, and pretty much everything about life - even the sadness.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love jazz (Ella is my goddess), intstrumental death metal (check out Cloudkicker and Pelican), rock/metal (Mastodon, Circa Survive, Baroness, Gojira...), classical (Mozart's compositions make me cry), opera (a favorite piece of mine is The Black Swan), some indie/pop music (Death Cab for Cutie, Grace Potter & the Nocturnals, No Doubt, City and Colour...), and everything inbetween.

My attention span and lifestyle makes me terrible at finishing books, so I read a few at a time and hate myself later. I like Robert Heinlein, Kurt Vonnegut, and anything obscure and moving.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Left home with $11 in my pocket and haven't been back since last summer.

Teach, Learn, Share

I have a lot of life experience for my age, and try my best not to judge a book by it's cover. One of the hardest things for me to learn was to love myself first - then I was truly capable of loving and caring for others the way I desired to be loved and cared for.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can cook, clean, pet sit/babysit (CPR Certified!), sing to you?!, but most of all; I can make you smile. :)

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, England
