About Me

As a Canadian, I am naturally polite, laid-back, fun loving, friendly and tend to say 'sorry' a little more than people are used to.
I recently wrapped up my bachelor's degree in International Relations and am trying to figure out my next move in life.
I like to read and have a deep appreciation for history and culture. I also enjoy fun, beer, wine and people just as much however!
I am not very materialistic and prefer people to objects

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

IN GENERAL
I have always loved to travel, meet new people, and the idea of the "sharing economy" so joining Couchsurfing only seemed to make sense! Everybody in this community seems to share an awesome attitude.

AT THE MOMENT
I've decided my unemployment means the time is ripe for an adventure. What started out as an invitation to visit a friend in Vienna turned into multi-stop, open ended bagpacking trip!
I am therefore searching for hosts for the following locations/dates:
-WARSAW/Oct.1-4
-BERLIN/Oct. 4-7
-AMSTERDAM Oct 7-11
-????

TO MEET NEW PEOPLE
I am also interested in hosting fellow travelers who need just need a place to crash for free or somebody to show them around.
At the moment I am not living anywhere very exciting as I moved from Toronto back to suburbia (Cambridge, ON), but if you happen to be in the area for some reason or other feel free to send me a message/request!

Interests

I like to see new places, learn new things, meet new people, enjoy learning and playing my acoustic guitar, riding my longboard, the 3 Fs (Friends, Family, Food), great conversations, being inebriated with the right people

Music, Movies, and Books

Love all kinds of music. I feel at home listening to deep house at an after hours, banging my head at a metal show, basking in the glory of classic rock, chilling to some jazz, or unwinding to some acoustic. There's good in every genre--even if its somewhat limited for country music ;)

Movies--Include but are not limited to!
-Pulp Fiction
-Trainspotting
-Knocked Up
-Fight Club
-Casablanca

Finally rediscovering fiction after 5 years of school! Big fan of classics
Favorites include but are not limited to:
-George Orwell
-Ernest Hemingway
-Aldous Huxley
-Khalil Gibran

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

-Spent a month in Syria as a teenager back in 2007 to get in touch with my roots and got to see what a truly amazing country and cultural gem it was. It's incredible how many traces of the world's history can be concentrated in one place!
Considering the state of the country, its people and of many of those ruins today, getting to appreciate it all then is one of the things I feel most blessed about in my life

-Walking and jogging along the Great Wall of China for over an hour with my brother last April (2014) was also an amazing experience

Teach, Learn, Share

I really like to learn a little bit of history of the places I visit while I'm there!

What I Can Share with Hosts

-Good conversation!
-Cardgames you may or may not already know of! (313, 'Asshole', Manoeuvre)
-Travel stories
-A helping hand
-An open mind
