A bit of a culture vulture, I enjoy talking to strangers. I muddle through with English and gesticulating but I've got to get some Spanish!
My hard core interests are classical music and photography. ooops... food too. Will do or try anything at least once!

PHILOSOPHY

I've been a workaholic until recently and I'm just cutting loose now. Losing interest in the material and seeking to redefine myself as an individual. My quest is for that which is beautiful. I try to find something each day to make it worth living whether found in nature, art, poetry or music. Trying to divest myself of the "underbelly" of daily grind.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Had a lot of fun at a CS language group in Medellin and currently with a wonderful host in Sao Paulo. Have met many people I'd be happy to host once I'm back home.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far my experience has been very positive. That's because the people I've engaged with have been very interesting, from a wide variety of fields/ages... the diversity of interests makes for lively conversation and people have bent over backwards to be helpful. Renews your faith in people.

Besieged... I love this film cause there are only about 3 pages of dialogue in the whole thing. I like the way he tries to reach her with his music and and she is impervious to it because it isn't hers. This film is the most nuanced work I've ever seen.
Otherwise I love action movies!

Was talking to a Brazilian rock guitarist last night who was keen to learn about classical music. Was able to introduce him to some of the best operatic arias, Rach. 2, Oistrakh, Horowitz, Rubinstein, and to his delight Carlos Montoya. He went home with his eyes wide open to a new vista (his words). Would like to learn guitar myself. I am also an amateur astrologer and many people are interested in dissecting their charts. But my passion is photography... have made the switch from large format 4X5 to digital! Enjoy sharing critiques.
