Vagabonding (at home and abroad)
Hi, I'm Darren, I have travelled a lot in the past (about 30 countries), had some great experiences & met some interesting people. I think it's important to stay open and in a traveller state of mind, even when you are not travelling. So I think CS is a great idea.
Some of my interests include music, film, travel, hiking, and camping. I also run a location independent business.
Live fairly simply, and have a mind of your own.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have hosted when I was in Melbourne, Forster, and now here in Newcastle. I feel it's a good way to give back after I met so many generous & kind people on my travels. Also a good way to keep the travel bug and meet interesting people. I enjoy showing people around if I have time.
I have crashed on couches in the USA, UK, Thailand, Greece etc. This was before I had heard of 'couchsurfing'. Met some excellent people this way, avoided the tourist traps and learned a bit about the local culture.
I love hiking and camping, photography, music and art festivals, electronic music, and I also present a radio show locally.
Music, Movies, and Books
Films/book - Scifi, comedy, travel, action
Music - pretty eclectic .. electronica, soundtracks, dub, afrobeat etc
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Met the Dalai Lama
