Trying to see America, on the cheap, in the magic age where I have my energy and health without job and family responsibilities.

I'm attending the CNU-24 (Congress for the New Urbanism) conference in Detroit in June 2016, and will be visiting cities to learn about the current status of "walkable towns" in America.

Music, Movies, and Books

Leonard Cohen & Gordon Lightfoot, Beach Boys, Dave Clark Five. Stompin Tom Connors. Movies of the 1930's to 1950's, but epics & adventures from any era. Casablanca, Lawrence of Arabia, Airport, Three Days of the Condor. I methodically read the top fiction, but enjoyed biography: John Adams, Norman Schwartzkopf, F Lee Bailey & Bowie Kuhn. Macro level Sociology including college texts from the dollar bin. Anything dealing with the Supreme Court.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Traveled a million miles, but gave it up after 9/11 and DHS. Worked with thousands of individuals, sharing information; both technical and personal, both insightful and mundane. I've visited the grave site of every American President.

I love listening to personal stories, especially regional accents. I have learned so much from associating with young people: technology, techniques, popular culture.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My sixty years of life stories. My liberal, socialist, communist, anarchist, libertarian, historical, anthropological, Buddhist, practical, activist views on historical and current events. And I'll wash my dishes and fold my bedding.
