Put the finishing touch to my longstanding world domination plot...
Grew up and lived on three continents, currently experimenting with a fourth.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
By boring everybody senseless with stories of how great CS used to be before it was sold out to corporate interests for personal gain by its greedy disingenuous "founders".
As much as I try not to let it define me (no one wants to be that dodgy hippie sitting in a corner, endlessly rehashing the same tired old stories of travels to exotic faraway lands): travelling has always been a major part of my life.
Surfed couches, sofas, futons, concrete floors etc. for most of my life. Love the concept of CS and hope I can give back a little, now that I have some spare room in an interesting town.
Books, Music, Kittens, Unicorns, Rainbows, Quantum Physics, Wittgenstein.
Music, Movies, and Books
I apply myself to find redeeming qualities in nearly every possible style of music. I have been pretty successful at that so far, if you exclude most of the crap that routinely gets featured on mainstream cable music channels. That aside, I have been known to dance my ass off till morning to quality house and electro, listen to Bowie or Leonard Cohen when the mood strikes and own a worryingly large collection of Italian opera.
I watch a lot of movies (thanks Internet).
I read a lot (though not as much as I used to: damn internet).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched c-beams glitter in the dark near the Tanhauser Gate... Wait, this was not the 'favourite quotation' field? Nevermind then.
Teach, Learn, Share
I suppose if I rack my brain hard enough, I can probably muster one or two classes on endomorphism reduction or latin declensions.
As for practical things I can share: I have now lived for a good few years in Japan, speak some of the local language, had ample opportunity to study local customs (not to say I master any of them).
If you can stomach the non-starry-eyed, somewhat contrasted (but hopefully not quite bitter yet) depiction of Japan that comes with the years, I am generally more than happy to share my experience and discuss all aspects of life in this otherwise fascinating country.
Like a lot of other long-time foreign residents here, I can also bore you senseless with all manners of Japanese language and kanji-related topics. Which is not to say that I am very good at them, just that there is a lot to talk about.
Learning, is my main life occupation and one I hope to keep for a long long time. Chances are, if you are passionate about something and like to share your knowledge with others, you'll have my interest.
What I Can Share with Hosts
One last thing: I like to know that people sending in requests have bothered to read my profile first, so when sending your request, please include a mention of your favourite wild animal (or favourite prime number, whichever you prefer).
