About Me

I always felt a bit alien in modern society, and had to search around for who I am. Did quite some different things, and I'm still constantly changing.

I'm a university student now, studying Japanese in Leipzig Germany in my third year. Since around mid twenties I discovered foreign languages as a way of expressing myself, they are conversational, but far from perfect - don't expect too much of it.

Before that I always wanted to express myself with music, I studied music for some years, including some time at university, but I didn't quite make it. I'm on a music break, but want to pick it up again eventually, check out my Soundcloud: https://soundcloud.com/david-oerther

I am looking forward to meeting new people, experiences and stories :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm not very well traveled but I loved to hang out with foreigners in my home town. Their experiences made me curious.

Couchsurfing once saved my ass while I was struggling finding a flat in the Netherlands. I spent one month searching for a flat while studying. While it was very exhausting it also was very enlightening, also it helped me learning Dutch quickly.

At that time though I didn't know about these sort of online communities and actually asked my way through masses of people to find a couch. Still I was amazed at how many friendly people were willing to share their flat with me.

I'm a very curious person always looking for something new and interesting, that's also why I like experiencing foreign cultures. I like everything creative including most forms of art, but especially music.
