About Me

I like to learn stuff. I tend to only like to do things that teach me something new. This includes of course meeting new people. I really like hearing peoples stories.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

(I'm also on Trustroots, which is less evil ;) https://www.trustroots.org/#!/profile/unsanded)
I found out that CS is squeezing you to pay to meet people. So, just send me a an email at davidvanrijn@gmail.com

I tend to get bored of everyday life. A problem which you can, as a fellow couchsufer, probably relate to.
What i really like to do is meet people; many different people.
Hitch hiking is in my opinion a really good way to do this; you talk to a lot of people, and get somewhere cool.
So i though, why not do the same thing while staying somewhere? Or just at home, and let people visit me.

I really like to go sailing in the summer. It gives a real feeling of freedom. And it is always nice to do something that makes you tired in the evening.
I also enjoy climbing, which i do, living in the netherlands, mostly indoors. But when i get the chance to climb/boulder outside, I take it.

And then there is of course, the other means of meeting awesome people: Ultimate frisbee :)
I really love playing ultimate, especially tournaments. And i am definitely planning on weaving random hat-tournaments into random travels.

Music, Movies, and Books

In movies, im quite fan of bollywood movies, but maybe that's just because only the best ones make it all the way over here...
Anyways, I really enjoyed "Three idiots", "like stars on earth", and "PK".
As for books, i listen to a lot of audiobooks, because i read slowly and it saves time for me. So, purists, judge all you will ;).
Books i really enjoyed were the discworld series by Terry Pratchett.
My friend Sara recommended Shantaram and that really inspired me.
I could go on listing books, but i figure, if you like reading, you'd be reading books for yourself ;)

Teach, Learn, Share

I am a computer science student, but i like making things in every discipline. I really love working with wood, or electronics. And yes, i'd love to teach you stuff, but be aware, it takes a long time to learn (especially computer and electronics stuff) to get the basics.
Besides that i basically love learning, anything. If you're good at sometings and are enthousiastic, i'd love to learn a your skill ;)

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love telling and hearing crazy hitchiking stories. Or any other kind of stories for that matter :)
