About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To see Brazil from outside of a hotel room and absorb / be absorbed into its culture

ABOUT ME

I have been married for 23 years, have two sons (15 & 17), started companies, competed in endurance events, traveled extensively throughout the world (over 60 countries), am an investor and board advisor, and consult on education, employment and entrepreneurship in the UK, NZ, South Africa and Brazil. In short have done more than I could I have ever dreamed of. I love people, food, music and reading, the arts and culture. I am fun, adventurous, risk taking, energetic, complex, passionate, committed, eccentric, generous and kind.

PHILOSOPHY

Relationships, relationships, relationships. . .

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Having just signed up I am not entirely sure how I will be participating, except to say I will be actively engaging with 'friends' from Africa and South America, if nothing else.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

CouchSurfing virgin I'm afraid. Like alot of life I am coming to it late; like discovering the mountains, and the thrill of being in the middle of nowhere, with no-one and nothing except the elements.

Interests

Sport, adventures, music, books, the arts, travel, social enterprise, the environment, global strategies and the local community, business, young people, education, leadership, and servanthood

Music, Movies, and Books

I love a broad range of music from classical to rap, South American and Latino to mainstream pop. I am also a keen musician and play the piano, violin and saxophone

A late starter to reading, not because I couldn't read but because I didn't quite get the point of it. I now read alot. My favorites are 19th century Russian authors such as, Tolstoy and Dostoyevsky, hard work and intense (sums me up too), and modern history, biographies and authors such as Philip Yancey, Henri Nouwen and M. Scott Peck

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

To see young people making different choices that impact not just their own lives but their communities too. To be a part of one persons life and know that if you had nothing more than this that you would already have had everything worth living for.

Teach, Learn, Share

Starting, growing and selling businesses; micro enterprise, social entrepreneurship, leading and leadership, servanthood, losing weight, training and competing in endurance events
