About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Seeing a little bit of the world.

ABOUT ME

I graduated from college last June and I'm spending some time traveling, experiencing new things, meeting cool people, and trying to get out of my comfort zone.

For the last two months I've been living and working on a small organic farm on the North Shore of Oahu where I've learned about farming, cooking, and community. I've met some really cool people from all over the world and I've been inspired by the projects and travels that I've seen people participate in.

This summer I'm visiting my relatives in Sicily. It's my first time leaving the US so I want to take some time to travel around Europe.

PHILOSOPHY

Hmmm... I'm still working on this, but here's what I have so far: I think the most important thing in life is connection. It's what makes me feel human. When I feel connected to my family, friends, and community any problems I have don't seem so bad, and anything good that happens feels more important.

Interests

I love cooking, farming, old movies (and some new ones), hiking, biking, and coffee. My favorite thing to do is bake bread. Kneading dough is therapeutic, and baking makes a house smell like a home. I'm vegetarian and have been vegan in the past which has pushed me to change recipes and learn unconventional ways of cooking.

Music, Movies, and Books

Lately, I've been listening to Phantogram, Coldplay, Mumford and Sons, and Florence and the Machine. I also really like Rodrigo y Gabriela, Israel Kamakawiwo'ole, Gershwin, Billie Holiday, Stacey Kent, Rammstein, Radiohead, and Rage Against the Machine.

My favorite movie is A Star Is Born with Judy Garland and James Mason. My favorite book is One Hundred Years of Solitude by García Márquez.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A few summers ago when I was interning on a farm on the Big Island of Hawaii my farm host took me and the other interns up to Mauna Kea. You could see Kona, Mauna Loa, lava deserts, and an expanse of ocean with Maui floating like a cloud off in the distance. At sunset all the clouds looked lit up like colorful rivers running through the mountains off into the horizon.
