About Me

First of all, before anything else, any copy-paste request will be ignored, or declined without any explication. I really hate those. I have a profile filled with many things, so it's not hard to at least say one line of why you sent me a request. Couchsurfing is about cultural exchanges, not free hostels. I'm not asking you to sing my praises, just at least mention something in common that we share.

To find a Unicorn riding a pretty rainbow.

Oh my, oh my oh my... I'm really not a big fan of talking about myself...

But oh well, let's put some meaning to words.

Let's see now, I am of a Palestinian origin, from the region of Ramallah to be exact, I have a Jordanian nationality (I'm of Amman, the capital), I lived for the most part of my life in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia (hehe, out of all places), and it has been some years now since I live in France. Anyway, I've never really lived in the same place for more than 5 years. :) My family name does mean "the Foreigner" in arabic. hehehe
Yeah I know, it's a bit confusing, so whenever I meet someone new, and he/she asks the eternal question "Where are you from?", confusion will take place. ;P

I'm not a big fan of of crowds or closes spaces. At the beginning I might keep to myself. But once we start to get to know each other, radness will take place. Favourite subjects usually are various, from Unicorns to the Cosmos. Also, I'm not saying it was aliens, but it was aliens. On a side, just because I come from the Middle East many assume that I love talking about politics. I honestly don't. Yet in some way or another I end up talking about it. hehe

I'm not a big fan of closed spaces or very crouded areas. Furthermore, when I'm travelling, the last thing on my mind is going to night clubs, I can do that here, so I'd rather roam around the streets and behold all, talking with some friends. If not, just having some people over, feasting and listening to some records.

I love the cosmos.

Many people describe me as a wandering hippy, others tell me I laugh like a mad evil scientist. And others believe I'm a hipster. But oh well. I guess it's enough about me for now.

I seriously like Absinthe. \(^_^)/

I think you have a clue now of all the stuff written. hehe

Where will be tomorrow if we don't leave today? The more we wait for things to change, the more they stay the same. And the more they stay the same, we change. Thus follow your dreams and voyage to the highest hights!

Why I'm on Couchsurfing

Anyway, I'll help you spend a rad time in Lyon.

If not then I'll easily point you out the directions and give you tips so that you make much use of your time in the city rather spending most of it getting lost and so on.

Also, let's make things clear, I'm not a big party person. If you're into a host who'd show you all the "hot clubs" and discos and places to party, then I'm not your guy. You can go do that as much as you want, just don't expect me to join you or advice you.

Furthermore, I won't be your babysitter or your shadow. As much as I like socializing, I also like my private life. So don't expect me to spend every single minute with you even if we're staying at the same home. In couchsurfing there's your time, our time, and my time. If I need to work or study, then I need to work or study.

Another point, please know that my home is not a hostel. :) I understand that you are here to view the city and enjoy the Lyon experience the best you can, but some simply interactions while you're here would be appreaciated it. I'm not holding you prisoners, hehe, but having some good chats and talks is a minimum requierment for me. :)

The word is "villainy".

Good heavens...

Too many things...

Well, let's see now:

- Philosophy: Having studied philosophy, it's natural I like it. :D But come on, even though I like it, I don't "philosophize" every single minute of the day. ^^ If I say a random joke, then it's to say a random joke, not to enter into a deep debate (trust me, this happens a lot)

- Music: Well well well... I'm a huge music fan.
Here's a look at what I mostly listen to: http://www.lastfm.fr/user/DawnBearer
Lately I've been into alot of Post-Rock and various arabic musics.

Literature: Yes, I read, and I read alot. Sometimes I go through a reading frenzy that I read several books during one week or so... :D

Languages: As long as there's breath in me, I shall continue to learn and learn more languages. Not to forget my interest in etymology.

Mythology: Especially the religious type as it interests me alot to see how we humans have an evolution in our understanding of the cosmos and its origin.

Astronomy: "We are made of star stuff, we are the way of the cosmos to know itself." Carl Sagan

Walking, talking, walking while talking, talking while walking, knowing others for who they are, and making much use of this life. It's our only chance. :)

Unicorns. I do like unicorns.

And again, I'm not saying it was aliens, but it was aliens.

I don't know what else to add here that I haven't mentioned before. hehe

Oh, I love cats. :)

And Absinthe, Absinthe is good. That is all.

Music, Movies & Books

It's not really accurate to write a list, just ask me and we'll see. :) But I mostly like sci-fi, historical and horror.

Music: http://www.lastfm.fr/user/DawnBearer :)

Favourite authors:

I am huge of of Arabian literature, and especially of the Palestinian literature of Resistance such as:
Ghassan Kanafani, Rashid Hussein, Tawfiq Zayyad, Mahmoud Darwish, Samih Al Qassim, Tamim al Barghouti, Tawfiq Fayyad, Fadwa Touqan, Jabra Ibrahim Jabra, Ibrahim Narsallah, Emile Habibi... Elias Khoury Adonis, Al Jahiz, Abu Nawwas, Al Ma'arri, Ibn Arabi, Al Hallaj, Ibn Tufail, Al Moutanabbi, Al Kawakiby

Other authors I love:
Milton, Shakespeare, Goethe, Descartes, , Camus, Voltaire, Goethe, Kant, Dante, Homer, CArl Sagan, Christopher Hitchens, , Epicurus, Ibn Rushd, Ayn Rand, Diderot, Hobbes, Locke, Rousseau, Aristotle, Hawthorne, Swift, Manzoni, Stevenson, Hannah Arendt, Edward SAid... BAH! Too many to name!

One Amazing Thing I've Done

Amazing is subjective, what is amazing to me might be normal to others. Getting accepted by La Sorbonne, after loosing hope I confess, was one of the most special moments in my life.

I did attend a Mozart opera, Don Giovanni in the royal opera of Versailles, first class tickets. :)

Entering Dante's home, and wandering around where he lived in FLorence was also special for me as how much I adore this poet and his work.

Seen Roger Waters in his The Wall tour. Was only a few meters away!

I meet and sat down with one of my all time favorite writers. We talked for an hour and he gave me a signed and dedicated novel.

Many stuff on the road while voyaging.

I did speak in public several times about the Palestinian cause. I always love that.

THough most of all, the most amazing thing ever is existing. Seriously, I am, as you are, the product of 15 billion years of cosmic evolution! If that isn't amazing, I don't know what is.

Teach, Learn, Share

Of all the mentioned above I'd love to talk and share. As for learn, a human is a treasure of knowledge, so all is welcome. :)
