À propos de moi

CURRENT MISSION
I travel fairly frequently and so am not always able to host. August to December 2017 will be in Europe.
I have enjoyed both hosting and being a CS guest. In 2015, Couchsurfed while traveling in UK and overnighting in Jamaica.. I also lived for six weeks at a friend's' house in rural Trinidad, a half hour or so from Port of Spain.
I'm fit, healthy, and pass for sixty (the photo is recen). After leaving residence in Zen Centers I'm establishing my lay practice in a house I recently designed, and partly built, myself (one of the photos shows Amish construction crew raising the south wall.). I sit zazen (Zen meditation) every day. Former journalist. I have lived in USA more than fifty years.

MORE ABOUT ME
A Brit. I have lived and worked in the UK, USA, and the West Indies, visited four continents (on first arriving in USA back in the the 1960s, just before the so-called Summer of Love, I lived in San Francisco's Haight-Ashbury). Way back, I was a journalist, became a Zen student (for many years full-time resident in retreat centers), then to make $$ to build my house, in the Colorado Rockies, was a freelance book editor.

Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I both host and surf. In Oct. 2013 hosted my first couch surfers. The same year, I spent a happy few days couch surfing in London SE18—astonishingly at a Thames-side home that, altho' picked at random from CS list of many hundreds covering all of London, turned out to be within ten blocks of where, years earlier, I had lived for a while.

Centres d'intérêt

Buddhist practice and study—but that says everything and nothing. I browse online a lot—still following world affairs, sport, and so forth, but noticed recently that the articles I feel most drawn to and don't want to miss are those deaingl with nature, the environment, animals, plants. "Interesting insight," commented a friend.

Morceaux de musique, films et livres

Classical; Beatles. I'll catch up some day.

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

Getting ordained after a forty-year apprenticeship. But my PC answer to the question is: in 2006, making a three-month trek in China , following a 2,000-mile, 9th-century (Tang dynasty) pilgrimage route taken by Japanese monk Ennin. [Ennin, incidentally, wrote what is essentially the world's first diary—a day-by-day account of his travels, giving exact details of location, distance, etc.] This reenactment—by car, so although often on minor back roads, not able to be 100% exact—had never before been covered in its entirety..

Pays que j'ai visités

Belize, China, Cuba, Germany, Libya, Mexico, United States

Pays dans lesquels j'ai vécu
