I’m Désiré, a curious traveler who loves meeting people and sharing stories. I’m a cancer survivor, which taught me to value life, humor, and human connection more than anything. I perform storytelling shows, practice public speaking, and I’m always happy to exchange ideas, experiences, or even a laugh over coffee.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I firmly believe in the power of words. However, nothing in my background suggested that I would become a public speaker. I began my career in IT, with my nose buried in screens. Then one day, I discovered public speaking. It was like opening a new door: the stage, the words, the interaction with an audience. And very quickly, I developed a taste for the adrenaline rush. In 2023, I found myself a finalist in an international Toastmasters competition in the United Kingdom, coming in second place.

My story is also one of struggle. In 2020, I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer. It was an immense ordeal that could have silenced me. But I chose to turn it into a driving force. I wrote, I told my story, and I turned this experience into a show. With humour, with emotion, and always with sincerity. In 2024, I had the opportunity to perform this show at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. It was a decisive moment: I knew that my voice could also help others.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach public speaking, storytelling, and a bit of French/English. I also know how to turn difficult experiences into humor and resilience — sometimes the best lessons come with a smile.

I’d love to learn more languages, local cooking recipes, and anything creative (music, dance, crafts…). Every person I meet has something new to show me.

I can share my stories, laughter, and positive energy. Also happy to share travel tips, playlists, or a good conversation over a meal or a walk through the city.
