I consider myself to be an intellectual person in the academic sense. I love college and I spend a lot of time reading history and writing essays. I love to debate issues, but I do not take them personally. I am not very ideological. I recognize that great people come in all shades of opinion.
I enjoy physical activity in groups, particularly soccer, basketball, biking, and throwing around a football or baseball. I love outdoor activities like backpacking, kayaking, and rock climbing and I prefer to be active most of the day; I do not enjoy sitting around playing video games, watching TV, or social networking. I enjoy a good view with a rocking chair, a record player, and a beer or a cup of coffee, but I do not care for clubs, bars, trends, or popular hang outs. Overall, I see myself as relaxed yet adventurous. I prefer to keep moving and see new sights as much as possible, unless I am reading a good book or contemplating something natural like a warm afternoon or a beautiful view.
As I said above, I love the outdoors and I prefer to stay active as much as possible unless I contemplating something intellectual or natural. I read a lot of history--both academic and popular--and I love to talk about it. I also enjoy discussing literature, culture, religion, and politics. I will debate any issue for sport. I n write even more than a read; it is common for me to write in silence for an entire day straight when I am not being active. I love the activity of writing more than any specific genre, and I will write screenplays, plays, essays, fiction, and poetry from time to time. I grew up on theater and I would prefer to see a play than go to a crowded bar any day. I love staying active, and I enjoy hanging out with people who like to run around and do multiple sporting activities in a day. So mostly, I enjoy reading, writing, and backpacking. There is a Chinese proverb that states, "Read 1,000 books, walk 1,000 miles." I want to live my life according to this proverb, more or less.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The mountain-top seascape view of Point Reyes north of San Francisco is breath taking. Natural landscapes like this have the power to captivate me in a way that technology cannot. I saw a dance performance on Belmont harbor in Chicago that involved a paux de deux above a spinning thirty-foot ladder. The male lover held the female ballerina above the ground by the wrist while only one leg remained wrapped around a single rung of the ladder. It was graceful and tense at the same moment. Last, I filmed a student movie aboard a real-life pirate ship in Orange Country when I was living in Los Angeles pursuing a career as a film and television actor. We staged several sword fighting sequences and I my character was chloroformed and locked in a treasure chest. It was a cool movie.
