CURRENT MISSION

Well right now I want to couch surf locally every once in a while since I commute a lot to the Bay Area, but not enough to justify me getting a place. In the broader spectrum I would like to eventually branch out and use this to see awesome new places.

ABOUT ME

Where to begin? Well I'm at the moment a 28 year old latina chick figuring out where I'm plodding along and making sure I'm in the right direction. I come from a a loving if a bit nutty mexican catholic family. A good mix of old school and open-mindedness. I am very much about taking it easy and taking time to smell the roses. I love Tolstoy and Borges, going to museums and plays, eating tamales and sushi, the Indiana Jones trilogy and Monty Python. But a bit of forewarning I am the sort of person who may bring up politics and religion just to shoot the breeze.

PHILOSOPHY

You work to live. But that's so much easier when you love your work. I try work on things that interest me, not always possible but I try every chance I get.

I am trying to meet amazing new person's and make new friends. Then when things are more settled paying back the favor.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Mostly with good friends who have been kind enough to help me out. Its usually all good but I try very hard not to overstay my visit and to be a good guest. I can say I have helped a couple of people out over the years. All in all good times, no real issues.

Interests

So many things. But some primary ones include cooking, reading, politics, film/TV, concerts, museums, art (street and otherwise), board games, history, sports (more watching than doing since I am out of shape but I do try to get out there).

Books, books oh so many books. I suppose I'll just put the all-time favorites on here. Anna Karina, War and Peace, Pale Fire, Labyrinths, 100 Years of Solitude, The Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankenwieler, Rain of Gold, Merchant of Venice, A Midsummers Nights Dream, Inferno, The Brothers Kazmorov, Group Portrait with Lady, In Cold Blood, A Confedrancy Of Dunces, All The Kings Men. There's more but that's all I can come up with at the moment.

Movies, well the ones I love include: Amelie, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, This is Spinal Tap, The Motorcycle Diaries, Amores Perros, The Indiana Jones Series, The Royal Tennenbaums, Traffic, Fargo, Clueless, Pan's Labyrinth, Reservoir Dogs, Snatch, The Producers, Grave of the Fireflies, The Seven Samurai, The Good The Bad and The Ugly, Shaun of the Dead. That's off the top of my head.

Music-well I'm open to a lot of things but I sure as hell don't like everything. Justice, Daft Punk, Madonna, Shakira, The Pillows, Johnny Cash, Julieta Venegas, Manu Chau, Yoko Kanno, Elton John, Rancid, Mana, Belanova, Los Tres, Mariachi, Stravinsky, Tchaikovsky, Perez Prado, Queen, Foo Fighters, Rage Against the Machine, The Ramones, The Beatles, The Beastie Boys, David Bowie, Paulina Rubio, Ace Of Base, The Hives, The Black Keys, CSS. That's a short selection.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

There have been a couple of "Wow, I am damn lucky." moments. But one that happened not too long ago was watching the World Series from the press box in San Francisco and getting to watch a bit of batting practice before Game 1. That was just cool.
