About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To live simply, love well, and serve often.

ABOUT ME

We are 22-year-old college graduates with high hopes, big hearts, and a huge passion for living life. We absolutely love adventure, and we like to go with the flow and keep our minds and eyes open for new opportunities and ways to get out and explore. Faith is really important to us, but we love discussing it with other people and hearing different points of view. Everyone has a story to tell!

Dani is a foodie and a nature junkie, and more than anything loves to travel with her husband, Tyler. She's an excellent cook, and being in the kitchen makes her happy; it's one of the ways she loves to serve. There are few better ways to show someone you love and appreciate them than to cook for them. She also has a big heart for getting to know others, swapping stories, and sharing life with anyone she meets along the way.

Tyler loves the outdoors and travel in general as well. He's also a thinker; he enjoys having deep discussions with friends that explore abstract concepts and challenge his way of thinking. He is an excellent listener and has a way of making you feel incredibly important when you're talking to him. He's also very passionate about helping others, jumping in and serving without being asked, and looking for ways to make someone's day.

Family is very important to us. We're both close to our parents and siblings, and we can't wait to have a family of our own someday! We absolutely adore kids and want lots of them, but not til we see a little bit of the world and get settled where we want to be settled. It's always cool to see family dynamics in other cultures.

We both really enjoy sports and games as well. Basketball, frisbee, playing catch, card games, board games, etc, we love them all! We're both pretty athletic and enjoy any type of friendly competition, and it's even better if it's outside. Fresh air is the best medicine!

Something else that's important to know about us is that we're really silly. We love to laugh, have fun, and are always looking for something new to try and people to try it with. The less serious we are, the better life is!

PHILOSOPHY

We strive to live simply, love well, and serve often.

God has given us a huge and beautiful world to explore and appreciate. Broad, wholesome, views of life and eternity do not come from staying in one corner of the world for our entire lives. I think we grow the most at the end of our comfort zone, and we can never be all we were meant to be without growth and maturation.

We also believe that God intended us to love others well and serve humbly with our lives, so that's what Tyler and I are trying to do by getting out and just going. As for simple living, we believe the less we have, the richer we are. Giving is an essential part of living!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We're just now trying couchsurfing, so we'll be traveling and hopefully surfing for a while. Eventually we'd like to be able to give back by hosting! We just love meeting people and sharing experiences. It's the richest and most fulfilling way to live!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We are very new to the whole couchsurfing thing. We've never done it before and we're about to embark on a two-month backpacking trip across Europe, and since we think the best way to experience the culture of a place is to meet its people, we thought couchsurfing would be perfect!

Interests

Travel, hiking/backpacking, food (both eating and cooking), sports, games, nature, meeting new people, serving others making people smile, trying new things.

Music, Movies, and Books

We are actually closet movie addicts...we love movies and could watch one every night, and we like any and all types. We enjoy a good read, especially books that challenge our views and make us think, but we also enjoy the occasional mystery novel :). We're not hard to please with music either--we like a wide range, from folk/indie to pop to jazz.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Seen: We've seen a lot of cool stuff in our short couple years together. Ask us more when you meet us.

Done: Dani did her first duathlon this year!

Teach, Learn, Share

My husband and I both have an incredible amount of useless trivia floating around in our heads...we rock at Jeopardy and other trivia game shows. Dani is also a great cook and can impart those skills on anyone wishing to learn. She makes a prize-winning apple pie!

We would love to learn how to be better rock climbers, and I (Dani) also think it would be cool to learn how to knit. It's also a lifelong goal of both of ours to be fluent in at least one other language than English, if not more. We are actually eager to learn anything new that anyone is willing to teach us!
