CURRENT MISSION

My current life plan involves living in a beach house in some country in Africa. I plan to spend sunsets walking my pet lion along the beach. He will be called either Bobo or Sam and will fetch sticks that I throw for him.

ABOUT ME

Hello! I'm a boy. My name is Donald and I like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. (Although actually, I eat them far too infrequently for my liking. That needs to change.)

I've been based in Edinburgh for nearly a decade, though a lot of that time has spent travelling around the world. I have been to East and West Africa, the United States, Canada, and most of Europe. My last trip involved motorbiking around Europe for seven or eight months. My next big trip is hopefully going to be to Australasia.

I play ice hockey and floorball (look it up!), which represent the 6th and 5th incarnations of my hockey-playing experiences respectively. (I previously played field hockey, roller hockey, etc.) I'm trying to convince myself I want to get back into running properly, with the idea of training for a marathon hovering around the back of my mind nearly constantly. The thing that stops me is... well, there are two things: firstly, I'm lazy; and secondly, running a marathon hurts. *Shrugs* I'm also an extremely keen theoretical climber, by which I mean that - similarly to running - I'm very excited by the prospect of going back to rock climbing sometime in the very near future. In fact, I've been excited by the prospect of going climbing in the very near future for about two years now. That's commitment.

I recently started playing classical guitar and it alternates between being calming and meditative or God's-cursedly frustrating, but I'm making good progress and I can happily serenade you with a stumbling and halting rendition of "Happy Birthday", or anything else which only uses the first two or three frets of the top three or four strings. Heck, I could probably incorporate the bottom two or three strings if you give me a few days to practise.

I'm about to start studying psychology at university. Psychology will be the fourth subject I've studied at university and this will be my fifth first year. I have a tendency to change my mind fairly often. This time, however, I'm expecting to complete the full course.

I recently celebrated my 27th birthday (though at the time I couldn't play guitar well enough to serenade myself, sadly). For several years, I have been anticipating my 27th year with great excitement and expectation. No idea why, but I fully expect my 27th year to be the best year I've had yet.

Let's see if we can't make it happen.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've stayed on friends' couches and friends have stayed on mine. I couldn't count the number of couches I have either seen or even sat on, though my couch-relationship has generally fallen just short of actually sleeping on the things. So far as the organisation is concerned, I've been involved in friends' CouchSurfing events on occasion and had much fun. Hopefully I can get involved a little more now.

Interests

So, I keep typing out a bunch of information in one box where it seems it's going to be appropriate (such as putting my interests in the "All about you" box). Then suddenly I get whammied! with another box that specifies that it wants all stuck back in again.
