About Me

Just a girl with a whole lot of tuition debt who wants to see the world! I'm an optimistic, respectful and love getting to know people. Hopefully you'll give me the chance to get to know you and you me!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I heard about CS through a friend of mine and initially thought it was strange.. but after exploring this site it looks like a great opportunity to meet awesome people. I'm a bit nervous, as I haven't travelled much on my own, but I'm really excited about creating my own adventures all around the world!

Interests

I love to sing - though I'd never subject your ears to my terrible impressions of Christina Aguilera, I sing quite often. I've been singing since I was young and I lead worship at my church so music is a big part of my life.

I play piano - been playing since I was young as well. I currently teach a few kids basic piano and music theory. I can always show you a thing or two! I've also taught myself guitar, but I'm not that great. I've always wanted to learn to play the cello, violin and harp!

I enjoy YouTube - I actually recently started my own YouTube channel! Also, there's something so therapeutic about watching people cook and give you tips on how to work your way around the kitchen. I'm not the greatest cook, but I do like to bake!

I love food - I'm really open to trying new things, learning to cook and helping out in the kitchen. Although I'm lactose-sensitive, I love myself a (controlled) serving of cheesy goodness!

I love Jesus! Yes, I am a Christian. And no, I will not try to convert you. I am open for discussion and though I don't have all the answers, it's cool talking about the tough stuff. :)

Just finished my H.BA double-majoring in French and Linguistics.. so if you'd like to practice English ou si tu aimerais m'aider avec mon français, il faut que tu m'accepte comme invitée! Or if you're really into syntax and phonetics, we can totally talk about that too.

Also, if you know American Sign Language, please teach me! I've always wanted to learn.

Music, Movies, and Books

From R&B to Hip-Hop to Alternative Indie and Singer/Songwriter.. and Taylor Swift - I like good songs that don't need profanity to make it catchy.

My all-time favourite artists: Us the Duo, Tori Kelly, Jason Mraz, Sleeping At Last, Michael Bublé, Ne-Yo, Gabe Bondoc, Coldplay, ProleteR, Jimmy Needham, Jeremy Passion, Jessie J

Albums I really like: Yours Truly, 1989, The Social Network Soundtrack, 20/20 Experience Pt. 1, Unbreakable Smile, Mylo Xyloto, Stairwells, Lasers, Us, Mouvement, Yearbook, Toussaint Morrison Is Not My Boyfriend, R.E.V.O., Fantastic Vol. 2 (Instrumentals) - and every album by Sleeping At Last

And that darn Hotline Bling song just gets me every time.

Since university, I haven't watched as many movies as I used to but here are a few all-time favourites:
White Chicks, Shrek, Scott Pilgrim vs. The World, Gone Girl, Rush Hour 2, Princess Diaries

TV series I've enjoyed: How I Met Your Mother, How To Get Away With Murder, This Is Us, Jane the Virgin, Friends, The Mindy Project, Pretty Little Liars, The Fosters, Life Unexpected, Being Erica

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Drank glacier water - I know it might sound lame, but being a city girl it was a big deal!

In 2015, I visited Alberta - Calgary, Waterton, Banff, Jasper - and I loved every waking minute of standing at the foot of those mountains. Being there really helps put things into perspective: I am tiny, this world is not. Whether or not you believe in God, being amidst nature is such an eye-opening experience that really makes you grateful for being alive.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you piano or basic music theory! I guess I could try to teach you how to sing.. or we could totally just do karaoke together.

I am the biggest nerd in that I love learning new things! How-to's, history (only if your delivery is better than my dreadful summer school teacher back in high school), cooking, you name it.

It takes time for me to open up, but I'm always up for chats over coffee or dinner.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love eating out. It's probably one of my guilty pleasures - mostly because I feel guilty after spending so much money on one night. But I'd love to treat my host to his/her favourite restaurant/pub!

Fun fact: my favourite chores are washing dishes and dusting. So if these are your least favourite chores, we'll make a great match!

Also, if you accept me as a guest, chances are that you're pretty awesome too. Though I don't have my own place at the moment, if you were ever to visit Toronto/Greater Toronto Area, you'd have a place to stay with me :)
