Overview
About Me
I've been slowing building a homestead on the property my Dad was raised on for the past couple of years. I'm trying to incorporate some aquaponics for growing fish and vegetables together, and I'm very hopeful that it will eliminate the issues I've been having this year with traditional outdoor farming. I've been helping raise my nephew the past two years, and that's a major factor in why I decided to do something that allows me to work from home and still be able to watch him. This year has been trying so far but I'm learning a lot. That's basically been my life for the last two years.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I really can't take the wanderlust anymore, and I absolutely have to travel in the coming months. I planned a trip to Mexico two years ago, and decided to cancel for family reasons, and have been needing some time away. I think a trip to Mexico would be perfect. I don't like traditional tourism, especially the consumerism based kind. I enjoy low imprint travel, and I like being immersed in culture more. I think Couchsurfing would be great for this, and as a way of making contacts and meeting people.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I decided to take a step off the normal tourist route on a trip to Jamaica years ago, and had the chance to stay with locals and partied around the island with them. The weeks I spent there were very interesting, I will say, and it was definitely a life changing experience in many ways.
Teach, Learn, Share
Different cultures fascinate me, and learning first hand is my favorite part of traveling to new places. I think everyone has something to teach if one is willing to learn, and I try to learn from everyone I cross paths with. I'm a student of life, and the more I learn, the less I realize I know.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'm pretty handy, and I like to help out where I can. I'm sort of a "jack of all trades". I'm also a pretty good cook (southern American cooking is my specialty of course). If they're interested, I could probably teach anyone some basic music theory, or guitar. Besides that, I'm very respectful, quiet, and courteous. I like to repay kindness, so I'd like to do what I can that's within reason.
