About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I'd like to travel to places I have not been yet and meet nice, friendly people

ABOUT ME

I love the Internet, books, music. I enjoy playing piano, classical stuff--Mozart, Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Bach, Chopin. I love opera, especially Verdi. I'm learning to play clarinet now. I love jazz (Keith Jarrett comes to mind), Cesaria Evora... the list is long.

In summer, I spend a lot of time outdoors, gardening, cycling (I have a brand new Specialized), hiking, going to the Lake Michigan beaches. Bicycling is my passion. I love sitting in an outdoor cafe and drinking a glass of wine, beer, coffee, iced tea....whatever.

I love water, boats, sailing, and especially rowing. I used to row for a short while, and still regret that I don't have time to do it.

PHILOSOPHY

Enjoy life, be kind, be helpful, have fun.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Right now, I could meet with people visiting Chicago, driving them around to get the feel of the city, maybe go to a museum, a gallery, concerts, or whatever, have a cup of coffee in some nice outdoor cafe...and I'm open to suggestions.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I met only one person so far, but he was the most wonderful host.

Interests

My interests are very eclectic, and I appreciate the abundance of life around me.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have a Ph.D. in Comparative Literature, so really, the list is very, very long....

I spend a lot of time on the Khan Academy site these days, listening lectures on astronomy and cosmology, brushing up my math skills.

Music: Yugoslav music of the 80s, Cesaria Evora, Bruce Springsteen, Carlos Barbosa Lima, Klaus Nomi, Latin American music, David Bowie, Aerosmith, Lucinda Williams, Nina Simone, opera, classical music-- from Bach and Vivaldi to the 20th century.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I moved to the US as a single parent and survived. My daughter is a fabulous young person now.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach English, beginning piano, Serbian, riding bicycle, swimming, cooking, evaluating websites....
