About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Listen, live, laugh.

ABOUT ME

Always awkward to talk about myself. I mean, I'm interesting and everything, but not that interesting. I'm not a drummer in a band, and I'm not the loudest guy in the group. I'm that guy who literally cracks myself up at the jokes of others. If you're funny, of course. If not, I'll attempt a chuckle, just to make you feel better. Except if it's a really bad joke :)

What do I do for a living? I tell the stories by producing short documentaries.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was 22 years old I visited a rural part of Zambia. I remember a girl running out of the humble hut she was living in. She was running towards us. She heard the 4X4 car we were driving in, and was obviously interested in our presence. It is a very rural part of the country with not a lot of people driving there. All the more reason for her interest in us passing by.

We stopped, and try to start up a conversation. At first, we were aware of the language barrier, and subsequently, saw it as an obstacle. I didn't know what to say, and just kinda stood there.

Despite this I became aware of how at ease this girl was with our attempt at a conversation. She was smiling, just standing there. She didn't experience the slightest notion of an awkward silence. Quite the contrary. She was basking in a sense of comfort. Glaring away at our faces in total awe, as if we were the 'other'. Her eyes inspected our faces, our features our being, and for some reason, se found us amusing - shyly giggling as if she recognised something she weren't allowed to see.

Then I handed her a small booklet with blank pages. And a pen. For a moment I thought it was Christmas in Africa. The girl burst out with laughter and appreciation. She was jumping up and down, looking back at her mom who was still standing on the front porch of their mud hut, showing her the book with ecstatic gestures. Even though she was blissfully unaware of the booklet , mom was just as happy. They were celebrating!

The girl paged through the booklet, and thanked us in a way that I have never experienced before. I felt uncomfortable for giving her something, as if I was assuming she's in need of anything. We waved and drove off.
