About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I am new in Anchorage, I don't know anybody here, and I am looking to meet people!

ABOUT ME

After finishing four years in the Marine Corps, I moved to Reno to go to college. After completing my Bachelor's I hung around in Reno for a couple of years, which was fun and kind of crazy. Then, I found myself in the bush in Alaska for a great summer gig, which was definitely out of my element but I am so glad I took the opportunity. I got a job offer in Anchorage and I am going to spend a little time here and check it out.

People who know me describe me as genuine and honest, with good overall character. I'm kind of a nerd, grew up gaming and into comics and all that jazz. I love animated comedies and I am such a big fan of Futurama that I have the same tattoo as Fry from 'Bender's Big Score' (just in case you know the reference). I've been known to party like a rock star from time-to-time but I'm getting older so for the most part I keep things fairly mellow - still, I do enjoy a single malt scotch and/or a good microbrew. Overall, I like to laugh and enjoy myself - I usually can find humor in just about anything.

I won't know many people in Anchorage so I am looking for somebody to hang out with. I am usually very social but since I have been in rural Alaska for the entire summer, I've had minimal human contact.

PHILOSOPHY

I learned a long time ago that the "Golden Rule" is a beautiful thing. If we could all just learn to treat others as we would like to be treated, society could be so harmonious (sounds preachy but, really, it is truth).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Just did it! Worked out in the bush for the Summer. I'm a city-boy and I'd never done anything like it before. Here is the copypasta from my facebook of the message wrote the night before I left - I was very emotional and sentimental when I wrote this:

"I can barely describe how impactful this summer has been for me. I worked hard, I played hard, and I met some truly beautiful people. This trip has reminded me of just how vast this world is and how diverse and wide the spectrum of people within it. I can never forget that there is so much more out there than what we hold in our comfort zone. Despite our cosmic insignificance, we are truly a miracle of nature. All of us, every individual, has so much to offer to ourselves and to each other."

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm certainly not an expert but I really do enjoy psychology and astronomy, which is a cool combination when you think of it - inward from the complex depths of our minds and outward towards the farthest reaches of the cosmos!

Anyway, other than that, I could sit down with anybody and discuss nerd-culture all day.
